Great FREE app

But could be better. Could include: Text to speech The ability to have a notepad while studying However, I enjoy the feature in which you have a targeted due date. I find it very helpful.

A greatly flexible flash card app.

Studies provides a choice of several flash card studying intervals: Spaced Repetition for long-term memory, the Leitner System for short-term studying, and two others that allow one to study by a deadline or really memorize a piece of information. I first became interested in Spaced Repetition (SRS) with a certain Chinese Mandarin app that tends to be overly-complicated with all of its granular settings. I just wanted something that works by default! Studies accomplishes this by just giving me the choice of SRS and that's it. The great plus of Studies is its native desktop and iPad apps so flash card management can be done from anywhere. I have been trialing the Mac version and it's quite MacOS looking in design, making it feel right at home with my other apps. It is a certain buy as a student. Along with one of the prettier interfaces for a flash card app (save for the subscription-based flash card apps on the market right now), it is actually satisfying to input data (text, photos, audio recordings, auto-import Quizlet cards!) and just as satisfying to use the app: a great-looking statistics section allows one to see how well they are doing with each deck (or Stack) after studying. This review is to address some key points that I look for in a productivity app (easy-to-use but advanced features, native desktop/tablet apps, great interface). The last one would be support, and a guarantee that this app isn't kind of vaporware - Mental Faculty are on top of their social media presence, even responding and following through with an inquiry about iPad split screen support! I trust that this team is continuing to develop one of the great Mac/iOS flash card apps, and will be using it for language and concept learning. Unnecessary Requests: - Baking Studies further into iOS: Spotlight Search integration, Notification Center Widget (stats/progress of a specific stack), programmable notifications - Mac/iPad: I like having buttons saying correct/incorrect. It's a little indirect in how I mark a card wrong while studying. I have gotten used to the arrow keys. - iPad: Keyboard CMD-? Support. Maybe that's there, I'll check. - iOS: Mass importing from custom XML file from iCloud Drive. Markdown support?

Decent app, overpriced a bit but does what it advertises

I bought this app to study language with flash cards. It does what it says it will do - which is better than a couple others I tried. It would be better if you could shuffle the cards in a stack (there is a function for this but it doesn't seem to work like I'd expect). I like the companion app - using it on a basic iPhone works fine. Overall, it's a decent tool for study, but I think it's overpriced for what you get. Would expect a price point closer to $10 for this.

FINALLY Split View

Sydmalicious96

I read a lot of programming books as I am learning computer science on my own and at University. I read in Marvin and usually want to make flashcards out of some of the terms and concepts I am reading about for future study. Before, I'd have to use the Quizlet app to add information in split view, then make the set public and keyword it, then download the set to Studies. It was a pain. They've finally, FINALLY added split view after an iteration and a half of the latest iOS (9 & 10). Works well. Happy camper. Update: The devs are really responsive and I, as a developer, understand that tricky feature you want to push to production but can't get it to work. No worries. Just glad I have it.

Amazing app

Buy it !!! Don't hesitate.

Helps me memorize

Easy to use and create flashcards. Can use in little bits on the go and it remembers my place, and drills me on the cards I missed. I've been able to memorize things much faster.

Generally great, iCloud sync can be a bit slow

Theocritus125

I finally gave up on waiting for iFlash to update, so I thought I would give Studies a try. In its previous iteration, Mental Case, I found the interface confusing and iCloud sync not good enough for my purposes. I have a rather large Flashcard library (35,000 currently imported into the app). Studies looks great and has virtually every feature you could think of (takes a little bit of time to familiarize yourself, but this isn't necessarily a negative). They have worked hard to make the interface and functions less confusing and it has generally worked. As I stated, my library is rather large, but I would still like iCloud sync to move a little more quickly.

Want to be best in class?

Then get the flashcard app that's also best-in-class. It's admittedly more of an investment – both in price and in learning curve time – when compared to its competitors, but its strong, flexible feature set and intuitive, customizable interface make the app both effective and fun to use. In fact, it's the "fun" part that's a primary contributor to the "effective" part. Rote memorization isn't exactly exciting, but Studies' support for text, formatted text, images and audio means that, with a little effort, working a flashcard deck can almost feel like being on a gameshow.

First rate app

michaeldwilson

This app offers ease and flexibility that makes language learning pleasant, effective, and portable. The interface allows users to study each card slowly and thoroughly or allows users to review large amounts of information quickly. Users can easily set aside difficult words to study at a later time. The app efficiently and accurately imports hundreds of cards from an excel file in Dropbox. Overall, an A+.

Import??

Kwidgebo

Looks like a great app that almost meets my needs and is much simpler than Flashcard Deluxe (another great app but which is far too complex, even for power users). However, I can't understand why there are no custom import options. This is a deal breaker for me. Response to Developer: Really? Sorry I missed it. I thought you only supported Quizlet. I'm just after CSV import. I will take another look.
