strng

Strng is a string synthesiser inspired by the karplus-strong alghorithm. The physical modelling starts with a short burst of noise that then guided by a tuned delay buffer and string tension filter, generates plucked string like sounds. No samples are used. Strng is 16 voice polyphonic and can be controlled with an in app 25 key chromatic keyboard or connect prefered midi controller through USB or Wifi. To further shape the sound two post effects are available, a ping-pong stereo delay and two channel resonant filter controlled by two LFOs.

I have the bundle!

The controls are somewhat cryptic but once you know what they do (as the on-screen hints indicate) you will find these are very cool apps.

Latest update seems to have erased my preset

Why? I don’t know.

I have three other apps from Eric, I’m buying this one on the strength of that experience. I’ll update this after I get to know Strng. Weird thing: bundle price made no sense. It was cheaper to buy Strng and frekvens out right than buy the bundle. Somehow, I don’t think that was what they were trying to accomplish...

Price/Quality misaligned
Tenente

Occasionally an inexpensive app proves to be indispensable and it restores your faith in cheap apps, which is then disappointed by buying many useless cheap apps hoping each will reward your willingness to invest in them but instead just use up memory. Given the price you might assume that there is a bigger, better app to do what this one does. There isn’t. Now w/ AUv3 support this is the bigger, better app. Nothing else does strings like this. Laplace is closest but, as it’s not focused on strings it does not give the explicit control over string parameters the way this app does. I cannot replicate the sound with anything else. This should cost $10-$15 if compared to similar quality apps.

Neat app but very quiet.

Wish there was a way to increase the volume.

One of my most used synth apps

I think I paid $3 for this app, but it’s easily worth $20. Simple intuitive interface reminiscent of the op-1 string synth. I love the new update, excited to try the rest of the bundle. Thanks dude I love your work!

Volume pedal issue AUv3
Normalkeyboardplayer

Good sound and easy to use but midi expression pedal works in standalone app but not in host AUv3 app like Camelot. I’m keyboard player and need to fade string sounds in and out as fits song so can’t use this live.

Wonderful

Wonderful and beautifully designed. Love the sounds it is capable of creating!

Very Neat Synth/Drone Machine.

There were no reviews for this app when I bought it, though the description made it sound right up my alley. But, I am very glad I made the purchase of this synth, I have found it to be quite powerful and versatile despite its minimalist appearance. I am a huge fan of really unique audio apps like this one that are almost deceptive up front with all of the cool features they hold inside. The thing I like most is that I think you can create some of the coolest drone sounds with the app. I am a huge fan of making those types of sounds and while the app doesn't do just drones it sure excels at creating them in my opinion. In the app you have your standard ADSR settings, a tune/detune setting, a gain setting, really cool keyboard with octave control and two really interesting and powerful effects in the ping-ping and stereo delay. Plus, I think the way that you can adjust the three, uh, shapes or whatever they are called in the center of the app, is really cool. I think it would be neat if some more of those adjustable shapes could be added in the future please. But, really, for just two bucks I believe that you get a heck of a lot of features and great overall package for your money. Also, I really like and appreciate the fact that you can save and name your own custom presets. And having Audiobus capabilities is just icing on top of this tasty cake in my opinion. The app also offers Inter App Audio (IAA) capabilities as well, but, I have never found the need for that Apple, Audiobus clone. Plus, I have absolutely no clue as to how even to access IAA in any apps that purport to offer it. Like I said, Audiobus isn't lacking in my opinion and I'm so comfortable with using it, that I never saw the need to fool with Apple's version of it. So, in conclusion, I believe Strng to be a very well-rounded, really well functioning little synth/drone/noise-maker and I think it is well worth taking the time to check it out and most definitely purchase it at the reasonable 2 dollar asking price. Many thanks to the developer for the lengthy time and effort no doubt put into creating the application. Thanks again and God bless. iPad Air 2/ iOS 8.3 iPhone 6 Plus/ iOS 8.3

Uniquely organic string emulation

Behind it's deceptively simple feature set hides a diverse range of tonal combinations. It only has a few presets so you have to dig in an experiment - but it's an easy and rewarding process to design your own. It has a raw and visceral timbre that cuts through a mix nicely. Highly recommended!
