Storyteller Dice Roller

Storyteller Dice Roller (SDR) is an elegant, streamlined app designed specifically to enhance the experience of Storyteller system tabletop role-playing games such as "Vampire: The Requiem" and "Exalted." With a single touch, SDR will roll up to 99 virtual ten-sided dice, count successes (i.e. how many are higher than a target number), compare the number of successes to a difficulty number, and tell you by how much you succeeded or failed ("Threshold"). Tens can be counted twice, once, or once-and-roll-again ("10 again") and switching between the three modes is a snap. If no successes are rolled, and one or more 1's are rolled, a "botch" is reported. 1's can either subtract from successes or not, depending on your preference. Storyteller Dice Roller is everything you need to stop fumbling with your dice and start enjoying the game.

Compared to other "dice pool" rollers available in the App store, SDR has the following advantages:

•Allows for tens to be counted once, twice, or once-plus-another-die-roll.
•Allows for 1's to subtract from successes, or not.
•All controls are on a single screen for fast access during gameplay.
•Elegant interface with a unified look.
•Results displayed in large font that can be read by others at the table.
•Difficulty setting, and report of how much your roll exceeded or fell short.
•Shows raw dice rolls (for the first 20 or so dice) at the top of the screen.
•Dice rolling sound effect tailored to number of dice rolled.
•Audio feedback when sliders are adjusted.
•Mute button to turn sound on/off.

I welcome feedback and comments and would be happy to add new features if there is sufficient demand.

Happy gaming!

Too simple
wcipmon

This is a very basic dice roller. I don't play Exalted, so it might work well for that game. But for the Storyteller system, it is too basic. It allows for only two total rolls of a ten, and doesn't allow for either 9-again or 8-again. There are a few other little nit-pick problems I have with it. Hopefully this will all be fixed in the next version.

A pretty solid utility
Scott "The Hanged Man" Corpany

Zachary's dice roller is exactly what I needed as an Exalted storyteller. In a game where dice pools of 20-30 are nothing special, play could really bog down counting all of that up. I've recommended it to all of my players, and would do the same to any Exalted player or storyteller. It can also be set to total things up according to the systems of the Old and New Worlds of Darkness.

Good initial functions
Aralith

This app is just what I was looking for for my Storyteller toolkit. It needs a few more customization options but it definitely off to a good start.

Good exalted roller

Works great for the Exalted system. Nice that it can switch back and forth easy on 10's and the target number is easy to change. I like that it is all on 1 screen

Crashes on iOS 5
brend0n

It crashes when I do anything with the sound on running iOS 5. If I hit the mute button then it runs fine.

Broken with iOS 5.
Jadasc

Once I upgraded to iOS.5, the app launches, but crashes when any buttons are pressed. No longer useful in this state.

Just what i was looking for
Rock max

This app does just what it says it will. I can input my dice pool, set my target number and hit the roll button. The results generated are displayed clearly. perfect for when I'm on the go or don't have room for dice. I rated this with 3 stars because it crashes on IOS5 if the sound is enabled. If that was fixed i'd rate it 4. If it also had custom visual and sound settings it would definitely rate 5. All in all a great app. Thank you for making this.

Great if you know what makes it crash
Teleute

On iOS 5 the app crashes unless the in-app mute function is on. Otherwise the app is great for cWoD, nWoD, Exalted, Scion, & Trinity Universe games. Unlike Diceonomicon, this app only shows the numbers. There are no dice shown, which is how I like it. Makes reading the results much easier. The only thing this app is missing are skins to match the various games. As it is, the interface is functional but dreadfully dull.

Please fix sound
Ghephetto

For a paid app, I am disappointed that I had to disable the sound to use the app. On IOS 5, it crashes the app unless you mute the sound. I like the sound that I have heard, as it crashes. I hope the developer has not abandoned it and will fix it for IOS 6.

Does not work with iOS 6
bngbo

Bought this and every time I try to roll it crashes sending me back to the home screen. Wasted .99 cents :(
