After five years, Out of the Blue is Out of Business. I played the game well, managed my resources expertly and had fun doing it until the last year or two. I expanded all the plots, bought all the appliances, hired all the chefs, trained all the personnel, upgraded all the stations, participated in all the challenges and haven’t done or seen anything new in a very long time: no new dishes or ingredients and no new expansions; plus, nothing ever happened with the gold star chef hats. I accumulated 40 gold hats—until they quit giving them—but they were always about “future updates” that never came. The game developers added new challenges and the VIP subscriptions, but every new “thing” just meant spending more money (your own) or using in-game resources until it hurt. The rewards for just about everything were stingy. After acquiring 1.5 million Experience Points and leveling up, which could literally take months, you get a max of 350 Goodies and ten in-game dollars. The game got boring: cook, serve, repeat. When a Challenge did hit the screen, it was ultra-expensive in resources and went on for too long. Ten days to complete a challenge is excessive. The animations are clever, cute and detailed, but the game is still very glitchy after the major meltdown about four years ago; never fully recovered. I have to restart the game at least once every time I play. The biggest disappointment for me is feeling as if the developers are not on our side as players, like they don’t really want us to be successful without paying for it. Unlike Wooga games, e.g. “June’s Journey” where I genuinely feel the developers want us to have a good time, want to make the game continually engaging and for players to be successful so that we WANT to spend our money there instead of HAVE to spend our money there, I sense a reluctance at 99Games to make Star Chef a pleasant gaming experience. So, tah-tah, Star Chef. Out of the Blue, over and out.?

lots of fun

This is super fun to play. I was looking for a replacement game for one that I used to play a few years ago, and this is the best one I found.
