Visual Novel?

A friend turned me on to this bc I like visual novels and said this one had different endings, so of course I had to play it bc those animal AIs are just too cute to leave adrift in space! I really enjoyed my first play through and couldn't wait to get the other endings. Except. There don't seem to be any other endings. No matter which AI I choose to leave in charge, the same things happen in each progression, offering only minor dialogue changes. This really disappointed me, bc the game actually has less time in between scenes in each progression, and playing the minigames actually chews through the wait time as well, but I've done three play throughs now, the third I chose sarge for everything just to see if I could derail the plot and much to my dismay, it seems there is only one story. It's unfortunate bc it's pretty well written and I actually grew pretty fond of the characters, and despite these complaints I really did enjoy my first play through very much and you should too, but...don't expect more from the game second time around. Multiple play throughs will unlock more data but it's basically journal entries to get you thinking about the rest of the story. I'll stay tuned to see if this goes anywhere but I'm pretty disappointed overall. Excellent first time though. Definitely play this at least once. Sorry I can't give more than three stars in good conscience. :'c laci is my waifu

It's ok

Pros: a mini game that allows you to pass time in between scenes Storyline is easy to follow Choices can be made that will affect the outcome. Cons: Not a lot of direction when you first play the game..not really sure if they are trying to give the feeling that you are on a device and stumble across the characters but could have been executed better. There are only two mini games and they get repetitive after a while especially since one game at first only gives you 20 seconds off the time. Actual Gameplay time isn't really that long. Maybe an hour or two at most. In between scenes you have to wait about 8 hours for the next scene

Can't believe it

Who knew in 2 days I got so attached to the characters. All the characters are adorable and likable. Interesting story and a wait time that leaves you in the edge.

A cute game with a surprisingly deep storyline

While ostensibly a choose your own adventure game to save the human race, Star Billions turns out to be much more than that. It is charming as a game, but completing both Seasons 1 and 2, I personally found it more compelling and moving as an immersive, philosophical experience. The story centers around questions of what it means to be alive, the significance of choice, and the long-term impacts of societies and cultures on their respective planets. The game storyline gives similar outcomes regardless of your choices, which at first glance is frustrating, but then makes sense when you learn the story has a long-term arc through 3+ separate Seasons (available via in-app purchase). In spite of the linear story outcome, the player still comes away with the feeling that their choices have impact and significance. The game is lovingly crafted, with cleverly designed characters (each of which has a clear personality and growth arc), a unique and twisting storyline, and excellent sound effects. Some players find the mini-games grating, but as a lover of the old Gameboy console, I found them quite charming--although I would welcome more mini-game options. You can pretty easily burn through 1.5-hours of wait time playing the asteroid mini-game, and average wait times are 10 mins between scenes and 1.5-6 hours between chapters. Overall I would highly recommend Star Billions to sci-fi fans who enjoy a good story with mystery elements that makes them ponder life. While the storyline has moments both heartwarming and gut-wrenching, it also offers good insights on friendship, choice, and the value of different personalities and strengths (particularly in Season 2). Kudos to the developers for an awesome and unique experience!

Great game with deep story!-some suggestions

What a great idea for a game, I'll try not to give anything away, I can only say I enjoyed it very much and I'm going to be replaying it for some time to come, so give it a try I think you'll be glad you did ? ---- CAUTION: BELOW HERE THERE BE SPOILERS!!! ---- Some things could be changed for the better IMO: After you've won the game the player is offered the purchase of the sequel, Which I would have likely bought... Except that the price is not revealed beforehand, so a person who is on a fixed income such as myself is not going to basically hand over my CC info to a complete stranger, who knows how much you're gonna lose. Not saying this was done to trick anyone, just seems to me you'd sell more if the price was known upfront. Next is just a little thing that kinda bugged me... I've played through the game twice now, and it seems like even though I made different VERY different choices than my first playthrough the game ended the same. I think in all choice based games there should be @ least 3-4 different endings based on the decisions you make, otherwise it gets a bit repetitive and you'll come to the realization eventually that no matter what choices you make the Ka'Ching ship captures you, the little guy takes you around to the planets, the first three are basically filler since you can't inhabit Any of them even if you want to, you'll make it to the end safely, minus sarge even though you were given the option to choose who would stay behind on the ship to crash it into the wormhole machine So great game with no major flaws- if anyone has bought the sequel please post how much it costs ✌️? 8.9/10

Adorable

It's a fresh take on waiting games. I'm really enjoying it.

Okay

Anyone know how much chapter 2 cost? No price was mention and there's no way I would consider buying it without knowing the price first...

Interactive space story

sarasarasarAAA

Despite the waiting, it being linear and tedious at times, I finally finished this game albeit months later. It has an overall great concept idea with kinda poor execution. I only finally got attached to the characters near the end; another flaw is that the choices you make don't seem to matter or have a lot of impact on the overall story. Many things didn't make sense and seemed to be a part of the plot just to make it longer. This game is more like an interactive story than a game. It has clean, cute-ish cartoony graphics and a decent story that kept me entertained.

Just started playing and I'm hooked!

I am excited to keep playing and progress. Well done!

A must play for anyone with a phone

It's rare that I feel so immersed in a game these days- and, aside from this one, never on a phone. All the AI characters are likable and relatable, and the lore is exquisite. The story overall rings of tragedy but never without the light of hope, which sometimes it delivers upon. I recommend getting all the achievements, as those reveal additional lore, and I'll admit that I can't wait for the third season. Strange, funny, heartwrenching… that was the tag line of MOTHER 3, but it would also be a fine tag line for Star Billions. It's sad there's no fandom stuff for it, as there's so much potential and… I just want more????
