Squares - The New MetaSquares Game

Description:
Category Price Seller Device
Games $0.99 Ibrahim Abouhaikal iPhone, iPad, iPod

Squares is a two player strategy board game with simple rules and deep strategy. Squares is like tic-tac-toe, but instead of trying to get three in a row you are trying to get four in a square. Squares can be formed at any angle and are worth more points the bigger they are. When a player gets four pieces at the corners of a square, the square is drawn in and the player gets points. The game is easy to learn, challenging to master, and beautiful to watch.

Features:

-Match wits with the computer in a battle to capture the most squares on the board.

-Take turns placing pieces on the board while trying to get all 4 corners of a square.

-Features a game mode for playing with your friends on one device.

-3 difficulty levels.

Please update the game I think the game went to 150 but u have to win by 15 so it could go higher occasionally. Please fix this I can’t get my friends to play when there is no clear win. If u will fix this we can get u a lot of downloads I’m sure

Finally, but old interface so much easier on the eyes

This brilliant game from aol days is finally back! I just wish they would offer some other, less grating, skins. The original game was so much more elegant and visible, and elevated the game to the aesthetic of chess, which it deserves. Please include a classic UI mode for the aesthetically sensitive... Thanks for bringing this gem back to the masses! After playing one game I see there are serious flaws to the game. The UI makes it extremely difficult to see the squares. Everything is the same value which makes it very confusing, and having a colored board makes distinguishing the pieces even harder. The scoring needs to be explained (especially the bonuses). Please study the rules and scoring of the original game. Getting multiple squares in one move is it’s own reward, and please consider including an option to play to a specific score for the win (by a reasonable margin, I believe it was 10 or 15 points on the original) Playing our to the very last square is tedious for the non computer (or non master). Love this game!

I love this game but lately it’s not letting me play. When I click on one player game and I try to start with the first ball it takes me back to the home screen instead.

So glad it is back

I also was a huge fan of this game.. i have been checking the App Store every year just in hopes that the developer would bring it back. I may be extremely rusty, but the emptiness in my heart is gone!!love this game and all of the mental challenge it brings!!

Great fun with my kids

Remember back in the when AOL was the thing? Did you play Metasquares? This is a quick logic brain fun game. More challenging than checkers for your kids. One suggestion is to remove the line clutter after a square is made for points. Thanks!

Great to see Scott Kim's game brought to life again

The only downside is that I'm not a fan of scoring as it changes the game play and strategy from the original: * a square would score based upon the distance between the y-coordinates of the top and bottom corners. This format discourages tilted squares in favor of just the ones that fit along the grid lines as they are more valuable. * There was no bonus in the original game for multiple squares; though I kind of like that change. I'd like to see the original scoring restored (though the multi-square bonus can remain)

Old Favorite

I first came across this game on AOL around 1998. Loved it then and was sad when AOL didn't renew their contract. So I'm delighted to find this App in the Apple Store. Well worth the $0.99. Play it solo or against someone. Have fun!

Glad to see this one back

I'm a former AOL player of this game. Hope you get a chance to keep it around.
