Low to no functionality

No way to sync folders to device No way to upload from device No hive support Have to download documents one at a time Pretty sure the web interface is richer in functionality - I would not recommend using this iOS app

Worst cloud backup app ever

Kyle Beckwith

I will not pay for a cloud backup service that has this poor of an app. Invest into a real app instead of the embed website. One star because you get that just for writing a review or it would be a big zero.

Can't Login

I can't even login into my account from the mobile app. Seems like v1.0

Great Service...

But I’m not sure how this app could possibly fail more miserably to achieve its objective. It should not even be on the app store.

Useless

From the start, “remember me” doesn’t work at login. Scrolling through lists rarely works. The screen blanks out from view a lot, and the apps crashes. In this condition, the app is useless.

Doesn’t work with iOS 13.2.1

JohnA2

The latest iOS release breaks this app. Used to work well with ios12. Now, folder many times briefly flash contents and then disappear. In the cases where folder contents do display, individual files may not download. Since 13.x betas have been out for a long time, this lack of support is puzzling. I was instructed by a support person to ditch the app and use a browser instead.

Files and Folders DO NOT APPEAR in IOS13.2

This is a disgrace. You have no problem collecting your monthly fee. That works flawlessly, yet your iOS app does not work. And I see you just decided to ignore everybody’s complaints. Life is good at Spider Oak. No worries.

I chose not to go with spider oak because of this app

I have been using on desktop for a few weeks and does the job. But mobile so you cannot upload to hive, nor is it part of the “share” menu items available. For example say I want to upload from Photos? You can’t do it from an upload option in the app since it does not exist, nor can you “share” from the photos app. This means it only supports readonly functionality, and insecurely (as mentioned in the disclaimer when you log on). Not a good experience for a security-centric hosting service. Back to Dropbox.

Secure, buggy, unintuitive, tired

DavoColo

I had been a big SpiderOak fan for many years, but in recent months (years?) something broke the iOS app entirely. Some folders and files show up, others blink briefly and disappear. It basically doesn’t function and hasn’t for many months. (In addition, doing database maintenance via command line on Linux also no longer works — or at least the “verbose” switch doesn’t work any longer, so you just don’t know what is happening.) Nor is second-factor authentication anywhere in sight, despite years of promises. These problems are longstanding and no fix is in sight. I will say that tech support has been responsive and folks TRY to be helpful. But ultimately these problems remain. Maybe more funds should be spent on coders. For years I’ve put up with the SO desktop interface, which is unintuitive, because of the decently priced, zero-knowledge encryption. But I think I’m ready to try something else that is still actively being patched and developed. SpiderOak used to be the clear leader in the field. Ten years down the road I have lost all confidence in the product. I’m done with it.

They need to update this..

The app is way out dated. Cannot even log in.
