This is the best card game with magic and creatures ( a la Magic - one of the creators is the guy who invented the Magic card game ). You do not need to play online at all to enjoy this game. With offline, online , single duel, draft Tournament play, and a solo campaign game this app has it all. I bought and have played the PC version and this app captures it all on a small screen. I have to give it a perfect score. There may be problems with updates retaining game records ( but updates always do that, even in PC games ). But the gameplay is awesome. Please note I have never played the online game at all. This is great enough as an offline card game. The online is just icing on the cake.

The game itself is exceptional, solid gameplay and balanced opponents. However, after finishing a campaign and starting a new one, I am unable to see upgrades for units after winning a duel. It simply says "Upgrade:" and nothing else.
