Great game but needs a tweak

This is a great game for practicing IPA knowledge and it’s actually really fun too! Love that there’s no ads and how simple and easy to use the interface is. However there is one simple tweak that would make game play a lot more rewarding. Because of the nature of IPA it’s hard to make longer words which gives you few spaces to play on the board. It would be great if there were a lot more schwa’s and ɚ ‘s as game tiles. That would make it a lot easier to make multi syllable words and much easier not to get stuck on the board. Schwa’s are used in almost every multi syllable word in English so it would make sense to have a lot more of them in gameplay.

As a word nerd, phonetic freak, and speech-language pathologist - this application is feeding my addiction to IPA phonetic transcription that I had been missing since college! This is a must-have for those who are learning the IPA alphabet for speech-language pathology or any other linguistic reason! If I had this in grad school, I would have been incredibly competitive with my studying! You can switch between IPA/phonics, look up words, shuffle and swap tiles in this word game - and the best parts are if you press on a phoneme, it will say it aloud and if you press and hold on a word, it will show it spelled out! I can see myself challenging my other SLP friends!

Seemed simple at first, but it is quite challenging! It's different to look at words by sound and requires thought to create words with more than 3 sounds! I recommend it, even for non-SLP people like me.

Although I'm an SLP, I've never loved Scrabble. I do love IPA (international phonetic alphabet) though!! This game is amazing! You can toggle between IPA or phonics. & you don't need background knowledge to play. If you tap a sound/tile it says the sound it makes. There's also a built-in dictionary and little cheat sheet of all the sounds. A little trial-and-error and you'll learn in no time! If only they had this when I was learning it in school! So much fun! Also check their twitter @SoundableGame - can't wait to see future updates

I'm studying SLP and this seems like a great way to practice IPA. However, I don't have anyone to play with :(.

I love Soundable! I’ve known IPA for years, but this app really has helped me brush up on my knowledge and put it into practice. I love the Soundable Facebook Page to find new opponents to play, too.

I'm not a huge Scrabble/Words with Friends fan, but this has sucked me in! I feel like I can justify "playing" bc it's GREAT review/practice for IPA. I do wish there was an option to chat with players tho.
