I would have given this app more stars if when you tapped on the picture it said its name. I was happy to see that you could have separate files for more than one student. This makes it possible to use in a classroom setting. As is, however, you really needs to have an adult saying the names of the pictures when used by younger children or English language learners for vocabulary development and for hearing the sound/letter correspondence. Sadly, I won't be using it in my classroom and I am out $$$.

Sound Sorts for iPad with update 1.1

I_teach_Kids

I read the review from the 1.0 version, but I saw that the updated version 1.1 resolved the issue of having the kids tap the pictures to hear the name of the object and hear the letter sounds at the top. I use this app for my kids in kindergarten and find it a very useful to help kids develop their pre-reading skills. It is also very helpful for my EL kids who really need visual and auditory help in developing beginning letter sounds. Also the fact that you can add up to ten students at a time is very useful. I would recommend this app to other K-3 teachers and parents of young children.

I use this with Kindergarten students learning letter sounds. They enjoy the pictures, the easy to understand instructions and the feeling of success. I enjoy the fact that a tap tells the picture name and that it is self-correcting. Highly recommended!

Not worth the money. My 5-year old pre-K grandson did it in no time flat then did the match game then there was nothing more to do. Going to let my 2-year old grandson try tomorrow as he knows letter sounds already. Want my money back.
