A World of Music at your Fingertips

4 holes = infinite possibilities.

Tablature will help you learn to play the patterns within the four "holes", the fingering system developed by English mathematician John Taylor.  By touching different patterns of the four holes, every note of the scale is reached. Music of many eras and genres is provided free.    Songbird even has a webpage with every song and backing track presented in full screen format.

There is a three octave range:  tilt up for highest octave, tilt down for lowest octave, and tilt middle for... you guessed it!

Shake for vibrato.  Shape notes with your breath.  Tilt to the right to bend the note higher, tilt to the left to bend the note lower.  You can use your whole body for this and everyone will feel what you are doing.  Or hold your body steady and just move the iPhone.  Massage the notes with your fingers by sliding them off the holes.  Articulate notes or play smoothly between them.

There are many instruments available right away, no additional purchase necessary!

A ceramic mouthpiece accessory called TooT is available from the developer's website that will make your iPhone feel even more like a real instrument, and improve the experience.

Songbird Ocarina LLC has been making ocarinas (ceramic flutes) for over 23 years.  Durian Songbird has brought his expertise and passion to the project, striving to give you a most excellent musical experience.   When you download the app, you will receive a coupon code for a discount on a real ceramic ocarina from Songbird Ocarina.

The instrument you've been dreaming about.

The one you've been waiting for -

Is waiting for you!

You love music.

You knew someday an instrument would come that would give a voice to that love.

Today is that day.

Download Songbird now.

Play music in your own personal musical nirvana,

or share your song with the world and watch your circle grow.

Note: When playing on an iPad or iPod touch, the screen will flip. We do this because the mic is on the top of the iPod/iPad instead of the bottom like it is on the iPhone. It is working as intended.

While I feel this app is fun. I am upset about the random pop up to buy the full version. When I went to continue playing after responding to a text, as soon as I opened the app again, I was hit with a pop up right away that at one touch bought the full version. No verification, no are you sure?. Just instant download.

This is muly favorite app of all time this app inspired me to play and learn the ocarina thank you songbird for this amazing app to me this is the best app (not game) on the app store

Lovely
VLullaby

I love the app but it flips upside down on my iPod and it tends to heat up my iPod like its in a microwave. I'd love it if they put more songs like River Flows In You by Yiruma and Brat'ja from Full Metal Alchemist. Just a suggestion. Love the app! Keep up the good work!

New tilt direction makes playing difficult :(
Yomigae81

I absolutely love this app! I have been using it for some time now and am truly amazed by the sounds and overall ability to flex the instruments. I even purchased a 'Toot' to add to the experience. However, on the last update released the octaves were changed from changing keys by tilting your head up or down to now having to tilt side to side. I was disappointed from the get-go at this drastic change, being as I was already used to playing the old way, but figured I would give it some time to try and work with it. I have to say, even now I find this method really difficult and at times even painful! I get a crick in my neck trying to quickly shift the keys while playing. This gets even more difficult when using my Toot. :( Please in a future update, could you make it an option to change the direction of shifts? I would be so grateful! And thank you so much for the time and effort into creating this app for us fellow music lovers. Keep up the good work!

More zelda songs please!
Nicole Madison

Really great and fun app! But please add more Zelda songs like: song of healing, midna's desperate hour, hyrule field, etc.

Good app
X.A.N.A

This is a nice, functional app for an ocarina. Not a big fan of having to pay for the other instruments though. There should be alternative methods available to unlock the instruments. The other thing that's not so cool is the instrument seems a little glitchy. Even though my fingers are properly covering the holes, sometimes it plays as though the holes are not covered.

New bug
Kemgam

Recent bug renders it unable to be played using mic. Before that it was good fun though.

Fantastic!

I love all the tabs and the option to slow down so its even easier to learn. Can't wait to get my actual ocarina now!

Used to be great, but....
Wolfy Lemur

Downloading the app no longer installs the pre-loaded songs. There are only two songs now, even re-installing the app doesn't help. Choosing different instruments seems to do nothing as well since it always switches back to the default Ocarina instrument.

Good but one bug
Halothecool

My sliver flute won't work I can't pick it and if I do nothing shows up in the bottom then it crashes please fux
