I love the ability to see my data on my favorite songs and the UI is easy to use and it’s simple. My only problem is that it only works with Apple Music, and I think this app could grow a lot more if it had both Spotify and Apple Music compatibility. But other than that one thing the app is great keep up the work!
My original review: I've long used play count in iTunes on Mac and Windows laptops and desktops to track what I listen to most and compare how quickly new music bubbles to the top and what artists and songs reliably stay at the top of my choices to play. Since buying an iPhone last year, it has been greatly freeing to no longer be tethered to my computer while listening but it has been frustrating to lose visibility to how many times I've played songs, other than through relative comparisons in play count-based playlists. Finally, the SongData app restores that visibility! I'm guessing that this app hooks into data in memory for the current song being played and that's why it only shows the current song being played and not a list of songs in the library and their play counts, but that is a vast improvement over no visibility. Accepting that limitation, this app is more than sufficient and does what it does perfectly. Update 2018-09-04: Thankfully, the iOS Music app has restored the ability to see (and set!) star ratings. I still use this app occasionally to see the last time I played a song and the play count. It is solid and does what it does very well, and the feature to show album art at screen width is a nice perk.
What would make this app even better, is if you could create an account and save your Song Data
I use it everyday. It’s kind of bare bones in the fact that it only shows the current song playing, but it’s fine. I honestly just wish the app developer could update the icon to look more..current lol. To go with the minimalistic style in 2019. Kinda stands out from the rest of my apps.
Looked through my songs that should have at least 100 listens due to having them for years and listening to them daily and it says 4 listens. The app needs to be fixed and updated.
I like the info it provides, but the play counter isn’t accurate. There are songs I’ve listened to everyday for like three years and it says average 100 plays. Not sure why that is?
Literally was able to pick one song and now can’t move on or back to library - even after closing.
This little gem is really useful in letting you see the song metadata in the iPhone itself. I’m so glad the author continues to update
