Pretty good

Justaweso

This is the only Mahjong that rivals Nagomi HD; There is an English option which is big for me. The AI is pretty good, not adjustable though. I didn't find the in-game betting system all that great. Typically wins are double what you put down, but with my win ratio of 32%-ish, the house has quite an edge... I turned betting off. I also find that occasionally I get dealt a suspiciously good hand, like 12 of my tiles are winds and dragons or I'll get a flush from the deal and win that round. This happens more often than it should. My final issue with this is that I don't get the feeling that I'm playing against other players as you never see their scores or bets after each match and session. All that said, this is actually a very good game, definitely worth the purchase. I hope my issues are addressed in some future patch but I'll still keep playing in the mean time.

MCR hands, but trivial for strategy

MathPoly

This app allows a WIN by any mahjong hand --- it does not enforce a minimal point requirement. After two low wins, the remainder of the round had wins with 7, 3, 5, 4, 5, 4, 14, 7, 5, 5, 9, 4, 11, 5 points. Using this app to practice for playing the real game with adults seems analogous to using tee-ball today as practice for baseball tomorrow. Minor notes: a) flowers & seasons are not used --- this should not affect strategy b) although MCR hands are used, this app reduces points for many hands; it also sells "cards" to buy info for cheating c) if this were a candidate for practicing the real game, i would have checked scoring for accuracy --- not worth the effort here d) a player may declare Ting (ready = richi), freeze current hand, and earn an extra point if win by draw or claim. The app's Help says nothing about this. e) Many hands began very well --- perhaps this is to entice me to gamble.
