Shiny Party is a learning tool for 2-5 year olds, providing a fun and engaging way for children to explore vital early mathematics concepts. As children play Shiny Party they will be practicing essential basic geometry skills, but they’ll never know that they’re learning!

EDUCATIONAL CONTENT

Shiny Party introduces kids to basic geometry and promotes the development of spatial sense. Kids will learn to:

• Recognise and name basic shapes and colors.
• Learn the properties of basic shapes.
• Find shapes within pictures.
• Match shapes of differing sizes, colors and orientations.
• Complete picture puzzles by fitting shapes of different orientations together.
• Recognise that shapes are the same regardless of orientation .
• Join basic shapes to form other shapes.
• Recognise parts of an object and put them together to form a whole.

Shiny Party also assists the development of:

• Literacy skills and whole-word recognition, with text highlighting as the story is read aloud, key sight-words and press-and-recognise text.
• Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination as children catch, grab, drag and swipe on-screen items.

I wish I was technologically savvy enough to video my 26 month old laughing soooo hard and clapping as she plays this app... It is her new favorite and we have way too many apps to begin with. I am too sleep deprived to remember all the details, but when she isn't laughing too hard by the animations and sounds when she (intentionally) gets the wrong answers, I feel she's really learning a lot. I thought the animation wasn't the best at first, but it's really grown on me - especially when I see how much my preschooler loves it and interacts so well with the characters. I just bought the other app by this line and am excited to try it out. I was really happy with this one! Thank you!

Shiny Party’s cutsie animals and interactive sound effects/actions capture the attention of any young child and especially engaging for the child with special needs. The story is about a Surprise Birthday Party which is a favorite topic among little ones. The graphics are eye catching and the narrator speaks slowly (and words are highlighted) as she reads the story and as she gives directions to play the easy to learn games. The games are sooo cute and simple to play. I especially like the cupcake pattern matching and coloring the shapes. This app mainly provides opportunities for learning shapes and patterns, but the child will also learn colors , sequencing and basic concepts. There are buttons on the screen which make it easy to click to the next page or go back.

I bought this app to use with Special Needs Kindergarten students and they enjoy using it very much. The integration of games within the story is excellent, or individual games can be chosen from the opening screen. Some of the games need a little more work. In the matching game the shapes come together when only one is touched. The Find a Shape game is nice but there are only 3 shapes and a limited number of different puzzles. The settings button does not always work correctly. These are minor issues. Overall, it is an original, entertaining and educational app.

Great app that fun, engaging and educational. Has a range of activities that would suit ages 2-5. Story mode has a cute story with a pleasant narrator. Mini games throughout story help to keep the younger age group and those easily distracted engaged. Great for beginner readers as it allows individual to tap on word to have it read to them. Parental controls are great and love the fact children can't access Facebook, App Store, Internet etc while playing the app. A winner in our house!

This app is such perfect for 2-4 year olds! Learn shapes in such a fun way! Not only does it include a cute interactive story book, it also has 4 independent games. They have included a parents section (with secret access by holding down a certain shape for several seconds! genius!!) that gives learning objectives, tips, and ties the app into core curriculum! This is a must have and such a great price for the content! Great graphics!!

Shiny Party is a brilliantly written and illustrated app to teach shape recognition for preschool or special needs children. The story, Shiny Party, tells of Alice and Charlie's preparations for Ralph's surprise party. It is interactive and very engaging. Text highlighting will help children begin to recognize words and aid in becoming readers. Sprinkled through this interactive story are side trips to practice shape recognition through various games related to the party's preparation. Children will learn shapes, direction following, pattern recognition, colors and more. A game mode is also a choice on the home screen, where children will get further practice in shape recognition and more. They will love the story line, cute characters, activities presented and stickers earned. Access for parents to learn about this app or purchase more is controlled and non intrusive. This is a great app and will become a favorite of children.

Shiny Party is a first learning app for preschoolers who have mastered the ability to target and drag objects on the screen. Focus for the app is on shape recognition and discrimination amidst differing sizes, colors and backgrounds (this teaches form constancy - something we all need to learn to be able to generalize information). I really appreciate the story mode as the narrator is slow and calm, creating the space to process the information and respond. There are links to social media and other apps by this developer discretely placed in the parent's section. Also in the parent's section are talking points to help you get the most from this app. I would recommend this, not only for its content but also as a launching ground as a social story to rehearse birthday parties and what happens at them.
