Shadowgate is one of the most well-known and beloved point-and-click adventure titles in gaming history. Looks like I’m 5 years late to this party. Whilst sheltering in place I ran across an old NES let’s play video of Shadowgate - I thought to myself “Wouldn’t it be cool if someone did a complete remake of Shadowgate with updated graphics and BGM?” So after a quick search my mind was blown. This is exactly what I was hoping for! I’m 1hr deep into this game and having a blast. Hats off to the team for creating the atmosphere Shadowgate always deserved. If you’re new to Shadowgate and have tried games with similar mechanics (Myst, etc.) give this one a try. It’s the best $3 I’ve spent all month.

I can’t play this game the way it’s set up. It ridiculous how many steps are involved when you try to do the simplest thing. I’ve tried several times and got too frustrated and uninstalled it. I’d like a refund. I know I won’t get it. It’s not worth the $2.99 that I paid. The original game seems so prehistoric now, but was so much easier to play. Big disappointment. I’m also pretty sure no one will see this review. I left a different review yesterday and I don’t see it.

I love the game, but it shouldn’t be available for phones as is. The difference between clicking on the thing you’re trying for and clicking on nothing is a fraction of a fingertip and it’s frustrating. Maybe it’s more playable with a stylus, but honestly who carries those for their phones? I’m using an XS and it’s difficult, I pity the people who tried to play this on the iPhone 6.

This is the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) classic brought back to life with new elements. You are to traverse the castle Shadowgate to stop a Warlock from bringing forth a great evil. It’s a great point and click adventure. You’ll spend hours figuring out the castle’s secrets and extras added.

Every time I minimize the app, to use another function of my phone, the app closes entirely. Please fix this. Otherwise, I am enjoying it.

I’m sure the game would be fun, but the text and hit boxes are too small on iPhone X. The game isn’t playable on the platform to the point it shouldn’t be sold for devices under a certain physical size.
