Sequence

I purchased this app with the hope of having an interactive activity to developing early narrative language skills. With my students. sadly, the prerecorded sentences use either phrases with no conjunctions, or poor sentences. This is going in the discard pile unless this is fixed with simple language models in complete sentences. As a Speech Pathologist, I cannot recommend this app.

Needs work

CASLPA

I like this app, but it needs some work before I would use this to teach sequencing. First, I would like to see complete sentences on each picture! Example: "He wakes up" "He gets dressed". Second, add some editing ability for the teacher or parent to use words more familiar, such as "she washes" instead of "lathers", and the ability to record over the recorded phrases. Even the ability to have the student/child record their own voice! Could be a great app, but now it's just OK.

might be good if I could use it!

I bought this app but there is a passcode lock on the parent/teacher button and I can't access it. I tried both the link for the web site and app support and got error messages for the address. If the developer is reading this, please tell me how to get the lock off and I'll change my review! update: The developer did email me what to do and even shared another app as good will for my problem. I have a 7 year old with autism and Sequences has been great for him!

Glad

I love this app, however, it tends to freeze up from time to time.

Spelling and English errors

I like the app but there are English errors and awful spelling errors. Not great if trying to improve a child's language, especially their grammar. Fix it and then it's great!

OK - but needs work

I like the idea of this app, but in using it (v. 1.0.3) with my English language learners I have been very frustrated by the fact that it does not model good English. The words and the audio to go with a picture of a boy getting dressed might say, for example, "Puts shirts [sic] and pants" instead of "He puts on his shirt and pants". I can turn the text and audio off in the settings, but I want my students to hear a voice other than mine and to be associating the words with the text. It would not have been any extra effort to put complete sentences with each picture and it would have made the app much better. I do like that there are sequences of 3, 4 and 5 pictures, to make the app gradually more challenging. There are a total of just 10 sequences in the version I have - two 3 picture sequences, four with 4 pictures, and 4 with 5 pictures. I am guessing the update with in-app purchases would allow me to buy more. Fortunately, the app does have a feature that lets you create your own sequences and that makes it a 4 star app instead of a 2 star one for me. This will be the most useful part of the app for me. Athough it will take some work to set the new sequences up, I can make sure the language is correct and create customized sequences to match in-class work. Once i have some set up, then my students will go to the Custom tab to choose their activities.
