Seeing is Forgetting is a “mix and match” photographic study of the original artwork If Slater Bowled which was on view during the Culver City Artwalk 2009. The bowling pin’s iconic shape despite obvious scale manipulation and even when used as a surfboard is difficult to overcome. Based on the title to Robert Irwin’s biography and the Paul Valery quote “ Seeing is forgetting the name of the thing that one sees” the photographs break down the icon, developing discrete views which expose the shape of the pin in all it’s inherent sexuality.
This iPhone application incorporates these images and allows you to reconfigure the pin by scrolling into more than 1,000 variations. Wright worked with Application Designer, Benjamin Sussman to develop a way for art to be accessible.

Seeing Is Forgetting
Great App. Congrats App Store! This is a beautiful piece and a huge departure from functional applications. Nice diversity!
Maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but... I've always thought art should have some meaning, you know, make you feel something when you see it. The only thing this makes me feel is that whoever made this app wasted their time. I know standards have been dropping, but various views of a bowling pin? That's just.... Ugh, if you're not high or tripping on something, this is complete trite.
This is beautiful app to accompany the project. Now the Single Pin Red is with us all the time.
