Make it an Audio Unit

Strizbiz

This app is getting trashed , when it actually a good app, but I’m sure if it were updated to be an Audio Unit it would get a lot better reviews. Personally I really barely use it at all anymore, even though I’ve sank a pretty decent amount of money into it buying in app purchases. I stopped buying them though because unless it becomes an Audio Unit, it’s eventually going to get deleted from my IPad.

Tragic

Macrofone

Feels kind of tragic to me. All I wanted was an iOS version of what we used to call a ROMpler—a solid collection of instrument samples in all the major categories, and this really could be a good one. I have an extensive collection of IK and third party SampleTank sounds on my computer and find they are pretty darn good. I feel the starter sound set here is a bit scant and the additional ones quite expensive for an app that does support AU—I would feel differently about the pricing in there were AU support. I knew going in that it didn’t support AU, but I thought perhaps I could use IAA or the onboard sequencer to get some work done and then export audio to my iOS DAW of choice, but this sequencer is a scratch pad at very best. Only records in 4/4, and you can only delete entire parts, not sections of a part.No MIDI editing. So it is a non-starter. Tried using it as a plugin in Beatmaker and it was a disaster. If you are going to try to lock your users into your sequencer it should be a thoughtful competitive one, I would think. IK, there is a big gaping need for a ROMpler sound collection, and yours could be it, but it is not. Until such time as this is as AU, it was a waste of my money and drive space.

Sounds great...but....

This app has a lot of great sounds and features. I was surprised that you can do quite complicated layers and splits, which is awesome. It's so close to being great. However... The "multis" have a lot of issues which essentially make this app unusable for live shows. Reordering is wonky - it swaps the positions instead of moving the item. Also, opening multis from other phones will prevent them from being re ordered at all. And the default order isn't even alphabetical - it appears random. If the ordering of multis were fixed I would give this app a 5/5 rather than 1/5.
