Glitchy

Square444

The app gives me notifications, telling me that the recipient has opened the email, every time I view a tracked email using the iOS Gmail app. This makes the sidekick app unusable--don't waste your time with this app if you use the gmail app. Not recommended. I also tried the fix to this glitch recommended on the website, but it didn't work.

Useful, but....

FrancescaMaz

It doesn't work all the time. For example, I sent a tracked email this morning. I never got a notification from Sidekick that the recipient had opened it, but I received an email reply from the recipient. Obviously, she opened the email I sent. Also, it would be much more useful if there was a way to send replies to existing emails via the app. Sometimes I'd like to track responses to emails I've received but seems I can only do that from the desktop. Great tool, in theory, but could use some improvements.

Pleasantly pleased & no more ?'s

It's great. I have the app for both work and personal email accounts. For work it's especially awesome because I no longer wonder if someone got my email. I can see exactly when they opened it, how many times they opened it or even whether it was on the desktop or mobile phone. It's made it really easy to stay in front of someone: I get a notification they just opened my email and if I haven't heard back from them, I can ping them at the same time they're reading my email to try to prompt them to respond. I really like it I think it's been really useful and it's taken a lot of the guesswork out of email communication.

Missing the schedule feature

bcaplo

I'm using Sidekick mainly for the ability to schedule an email for the future. I like to handle e-mail when it comes in, but I don't want customers to think they can reach me any time of the day or night. The schedule feature helps me to keep expectations in line that they will receive a response during regular business hours.

Linked itself to alternate e-mail address

Jenni_Squirrel

Like most people, I have a professional e-mail address and a personal one. I have Sidekick linked to my professional e-mail address at google. That's my login address, it's the only address I've ever used it with. Recently, I sent an e-mail using the Sidekick app from my phone. The e-mail was a thank you/follow-up for a job interview I'd had earlier in the day, so I wanted to track it. Since I only had Sidekick linked to my gmail account, I assumed it would send from there. Silly assumption. The app - without any sort of notification or permission request - linked itself to another e-mail address of mine, at yahoo, and sent the e-mail from that account. The app has no "from" line on the e-mail composition screen and there is absolutely NO indication that it even has the ability to link itself to another e-mail address (which should NOT be a thing). So now I've made myself look incredibly unprofessional and possibly lost out on a great job opportunity. Thanks, sidekick! Add to that, I've been having the same issue others have complained about where if I open an e-mail that I sent, the app tells me that the recipient opened the e-mail. There's a way to tell the app that you were the one who opened it, which is supposed to block it from mistaking you for your recipient, but it doesn't work. It's made that mistake with e-mails I've opened both from my computer and from my phone and it makes zero difference. There's also no way to get rid of the false notifications, which is incredibly frustrating. Bottom line: if it's important, don't use the app. Of course, if it's not important, why are you trying to track it anyway?

Needs Debugging

Ace2CWB

When you open an email that you sent, it will say the recipient opened it. When you go to that message in the app to report it as faulty, it gives you the option to block your device from being perceived as the recipient opening the email. As of now the app is useless on the mobile device, but the desktop version i have no problems with.

Scheduling feature!

Jackr68

Decided to download and use sidekick in my business Gmail account, wrote a lengthy email to the heads of a number of different departments, each department had a applicable paragraph of the email subject pertaining to their individual departments. Scheduled a time for it to be sent... I got a follow-up email from the CFO of the company so I needed to make a few edits in some of the paragraphs for individual department heads. When I unscheduled the email in sidekick there was no draft there was no email there was nothing!!! I now have to write the entire lengthly email from scratch again with the revisions! I do not recommend sidekick as a ease-of-use program to help you save time!

Horrible

Infamousrobby12

Don't bother. You'll just get tons of notifications from people you don't know reading an email you never sent.

Just one thing wrong

If I go to re-read a sent message it gives me a notification that the person read it, when they didn't. I tried to block my phone as a device and an error message comes up. I REALLY want to block my own device. Please look in to. Other than that, it's PERFECT
