Royal Game of Ur

This game dates back to at least 2,500 BC. Ancient boards and pieces were discovered in what was once the region of Mesopotamia. These were found in the Royal Tombs of Ur. There are many theories on how the game was played at that time. A game of chance and strategy that pits black versus white. You have the option to play against the computer or to play 'head-to-head' against friends or family. This is a Universal App.

It’s all wrong lol
Captain Turner

I’ve done a good amount of research, spending a few days making sure i knew the rules and this isn’t it. First of all it’s a one way race to the end of the board, not around the board and back. Secondly, all roses are a second toss, whereas this seems to be random. Lastly there are four dice that give you a 50/50 shot, not this 3 random “die” shuffle it gives you. It’s a decent game in itself, but if you’re looking for “The Royal Game of Ur” this isn’t it. I wouldn't have paid for a disloyal remake of the game had i known. Honestly I’d rather have my $2 back!!!

A.I. Is way too lucky

This game could be great but as soon as you make the turn to come home, the computer always gets the roll it needs to send you back to the start. You can beat it, but it takes a lot of rounds. At that point it gets boring and want to quit. I play the real version of this game and it’s so much better. Computer dice rolls are never truly random. This game is terrible at dice rolls. Wish I could get my money back.

Ehhhh

I wish it had all the other ways to play it. The board game I have has different rules so I was it were different

Great game--bugs fixed.

I'm just revising my earlier critical review of this game. This post iOS5 update had eliminated the bugs and crashing issues as far as I can tell. Glad they've got this working again. Great game. Even before iOS5 came out this game would always restart itself when you went to screen saver. This seems to be fixed too.

Disappointed

I used to enjoy this game a lot, but no more. Why couldn't you make it backwards compatible to earlier iOS versions as other app developers have done?

Buggy!

Haven't been able to play a complete game yet. Each time it gets stuck and play just halts. For example, my last game, I rolled the dice and couldn't move so the game popped up with message that my turn was skipped, but the computer never took her turn. So I couldn't take my turn, the computer wasn't taking her turn. I guess the game is over?

Game freezes
Mussab86

Good game but the game freezes when the the turn is skipped because there are no turn in round. I mean when my opponent (computer) has no turn and his turn is skipped the game freezes. Please fix

Alright

Of the three ur games I have tried this one is the most confusing cause it only has one rule, doesn't explain how the squares work, and for some reason doesn't let your opponent take his turn if you've rolled a zero (there's no dice in this game but ancient stick rollers that's why you can roll a zero). Perhaps if it's updated it might get better?

Completely Frustrating
Sallymax

The computer will win this game 10 times to your 1! The computer "rolls" fours (with extra rolls) multiple times while you get rolls of 1s over and over. If you have any pieces open, they will be sent back to start while you generally land 1 space before or after the computer's piece. A VERY maddening game.

Bad AI and loaded dice for computer
Somnambulor

It seems like the game maker couldn't figure out how to make the computer smart, so instead they loaded the computer's dice. They roll 4s many, many more times than you will. Still pretty easy to beat, but feels cheap and frustrating when it happens. I don't know if this game gets a little like tic-tac-toe if the players are balanced, or maybe two good players will end up having to play for hours, but the loaded dice solution isn't ideal in any case.
