Simple to setup. Auto-discovers your Roku digital video player.
There are several benefits to using SavvyBud Remote for Roku as compared to regular RF remote:
1. There are some commands in SavvyBud Remote for Roku which are not available in Roku IR remote, such as ability to navigate to a channel directly or enter text using keyboard.
2. Some older IR remotes may not have "*" button which allows rearranging of channels.
3. You can also control your Roku from anywhere in your house where you have WiFi network.
4. Version 2.7 onwards of Roku SDK introduce hidden channels. These private channels will not show on the channel springboard, but can be launched with SavvyBud roku remote.
5. Although not recommended, it is possible to control your roku player over the Internet if you setup your router for port tunneling (for example if you are using sling box).
Feature suggestions are welcome.
Some limitations:
Keyboard does not work with HuluPlus channel.
Auto-discovery may not work with some routers.
See FAQ on our website for an optimal network configuration.
SavvyBud Remote for Roku is not affiliated with Roku. Roku is a registered trademark of Roku Inc.
As another poster said, do a search for your player. The lite version does not have the channel line up BUT it does have the remote function. Actually works better than the Roku remote. Roku remote, I have to point the remote right at the player. With this app I can point my ipad anywhere and it works. Would have given it 5 stars if it had a back button. REVISION- I just noticed that one of the arrows (up) does represent a BACK button. Five stars!
Don't worry roku, I like your app :D for the people who don't know how to use this app: the up button is also the back button!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Doesn't do anything more then the FREE Roku app by the Roku makers. In fact you can do LESS with this. I didn't realize you can download iPhone apps for the iPad. Don't waste the 99¢
I tried to make this work, but never did. Documentation was very poor. This could have been a neat app. I should have read e reviews. Oh well only lost a dollar and an hour of effort.
The reviews are right. Within 10 minutes, my Roku unit was frozen tight. It responded to no remotes until I unplugged it. I upgraded to the $0.99 paid version - frozen.
In the app go to settings and do a search for your Roku device. It will find your Roku and then the app will work. Trust me I'm a Tech. This app works even on my old 3G!
For ppl having trouble, open the app go to setting hit search select your device and presto working, this app works faster then the real remote just saying I like it:)
The official one had to have me log in and had ads for buying a roku player. Obviously i already own a roku lol. This one you just hit search and it finds it and works. It's free so give it a try. No logging in or anything.
They say this app is free and the pictures that are used, shows that they for the unlocked version. Very deceiving! Don't even give this app a chance!
