Great concept

Lovinglife75

I just downloaded it, so I'll see how well it works. I do have to wonder about one-star reviews complaining that it only has major cities. They tell you that in the app description. It helps to read the description before you download the app. Don't give it one star just because you didn't check it out first.

Awesome idea, useless app

LauraDB5

They've only covered a few metro areas - and some chains, but if you're not in a covered metro area, they don't even show the chains near you. Pity the PDF on their web site is alphabetical by company including all the one off companies in those metro areas. Actual usable info is hard to get on the site, impossible in the app. Presumably if you're in a covered metro area the app is better, but since I'm not, I really can't be sure.

Would be more useful if configurable

MakingMovies

Being able to specify your own minimums for wages, etc. would be a big improvement. $5 an hour plus tips may be enough in some cities, but SF, Seattle, NY my ethical bar is a bit higher and we’re fighting for $15 in Seattle, not $9 which seems to be a preconfigured default for the app. Nice v1 idea.

Completely non-functional

Nice concept

I'll keep the app bc this is something I do care about and I do visit DC relatively often. But I do wish they'd expand to other areas and since it hasn't updated since 2012, it doesn't seem like they're planning to.

Lacking info/incorrect

Glen ridge

This is a really noble idea for an app, but if it's not 100% correct it can be really damaging to a business's reputation. Right now it is full of misinformation and of course in its early stages it leaves out the vast majority of restaurants that deserve acclaim. My fear is that if people start to trust it as a means of judging restaurants and it isn't totally correct, good businesses will suffer. It's going to be very difficult for the makers of the app to accurately collect information from reliable sources. Shake shack getting knocked for paying their tipped workers too little when they don't have tipped workers is just one example of the potential flaws. I don't think people have enough appreciation for the responsibility they are taking for other people's livelihoods when they start publishing information (or misinformation) about businesses in a forum that may be accepted as fact. Particularly when that info implies a moral judgment!

Need to fix information

Austingirl

The ratings are completely wrong. They penalize restaurants for not having tipped workers.

Starting point

Dreaming for a healthier app

This app attempts to raise awareness about what most of us do not think about when we eat outside. Of course it requires lots of data as feedback so facilitating what public could find and how to provide it to developers maybe it could help. In a bigger picture if data is inaccurate (talk to your waiter?) people will no longer use it . Hopefully there will be more apps like this to link buying power and truly better businesses. Great concept.

Constant crashes

food and justice lover

I just heard of this app on Bill Maher’s show and downloaded it but almost every “High Road” restaurant I tap on makes the app crash. I also agree with the other reviewer’s comment about if the information provided is not correct then it’d be harmful for the business and people working there. I have not found it very useful so far. Hopefully it will get better in time.

An Idea Only

I wanted to see all the restaurants I could to simply chose a better location. You can’t do that or you can’t do that easily. You only get a list based on yes or no questions. Once I did get a list many of the locations wouldn’t even open. The one that finally did open said it didn’t have information anyways.
