Need help with Lotus Maze

Someone please help! So frustrated -- I am stuck in the Lotus Maze. According to several online walkthroughs, a rat should eventually appear to help guide you through the maze. No such creature has appeared. I have been wasting time wandering through this maze, totally lost. I am so tempted to delete this app altogether!

Like Amerzone, this game has a serious issue in iOS 8, which is that the save and continue game functions don't work at all. There is no option other than to start from scratch each time. Seems to be a systemic microids thing. Please fix - this game looks lovely but I haven't got very far due to the saving bug. Thanks.
Can't "save" game progress

Yet another Microids game that has a major bug with saving game progress! Please fix your existing games instead of mass producing more. I wish I could get my money back easily.
