Worth the price

A great app for what it costs. I'm not sure it's entirely playable at iPhone scale, though - I'm doing a lot of squinting and occasionally miss things I wouldn't on a normal size screen. iPad version probably a lot better on that score, obviously. Still, great fun and lots of serene challenges - a great value for the money.

Disappointed

I loved this game but I wish the video and images were of a higher resolution. I know this was made a while ago but you'd think shrinking it down to the size of an iPhone would look nicer.

Meh

Nerfherders

Game is mostly a series of screen shots with background noise.

Won't download on iPad

Got this as a gift. It won't download. I see there is an iPad version but don't want to buy it again, :-(

Puzzles are blurry, zoomed-in parts of the same photo. Hard to make out any detail, and on a 5s, ridiculous. Transitions are choppy, jerky, and change hues in a jarring fashion. Remarkably poor port of the original game.

Awesome!

Great Game, incomplete video content

difference clouds

In my opinion, this is one of the greatest games ever made! And here we have a fully functional version for the iOS, which is more than can be said for Mac OS X. The touch controls are minimal and functional. Only a few hotspots in the game are almost too small to find, even with previous knowledge of the game, for which a helpful hotspot highlighting feature has been added. Sadly, however, some of the original QuickTime video content in various parts of the game seems to be missing, most notably the oh-so-cool animations for the topographical grid puzzle. They have simply been omitted! Whether this is for space constrains (lame) or interface constraints (they could have figured this out), I couldn’t say, but it definitely threw a wrench in my experience just a little. Other videos seem more compressed than in the original game, though this might be an idealistic memory at work. Perhaps they have fixed this in the iPad version, I don’t know. In any case, this is a great game, and one of the only legitimate ways to play it currently, so get it!

Truly an adventure

Well, I just finished playing Riven through for the first time in two years. The melancholy of reaching the end of a good story is settling in, and I may just have to play it through once more to stave it off. These games are so creative and rich. There are hardly any interactions with characters, yet it's all still so alive. You really do feel like you're there, running around and exploring the islands yourself. Maybe I'll play Myst first, and then Riven- back to back? I don't have a problem. I can stop anytime I want.
