Blackriver for the win

The Blackriver app has been a great experience so far. Clean design, intuitive layout and no glitches so far. Love how quickly you can get into the app to start your ride. It has some smart features like tracking routes in your area, and the ability to add others' routes that you follow to your planned future rides. Plus the ability to create a mini story for each ride. Looking forward to using it when I travel to explore new routes in unfamiliar areas. Super impressive, especially for the first version.

I love absolutely love this app. It is easy to use, intuitive and loaded with useful information. You can pick a crowd-sourced, curated ride from the companion web site or create your own using well designed map tools. You can also load routes you've ridden before to look at data such as ride time, elevations, cadence and so on. You can even modify recorded routes. This is just so cool! I've tried them all: Strava, Runkeeper, Cyclemeter, etc. Nearly all of them are missing a key element I need or, if the do have everything I want, the app has been designed by programmers for programmers making you dig through multiple pages with numerous clicks to find what you need. It is probably reasonable to guess that Blackriver was designed by bike riders with graphic designers sitting next to them. Blackriver has every piece of information and function I want and need in an elegant, simple and easy to use package. The site and app are sponsored so it's free. Sponsorship is unobtrusive and actually very useful in that I can see sponsored rides along with actual rider comments. The web site is graceful, nicely designed and easy to navigate. The only thing they are lacking is HealthKit integration which I've been told by customer support is coming shortly in a new release. By the way, customer support is very helpful, quick to respond, knowledgeable and considerate. I ride to stay in shape. I don't race, don't have any desire to, but I do want a basic set of tools that allow me to easily evaluate what I've done, what I want to do and if I'm improving. I don't want to spend hours navigating software to try to get it to do what I want. Blackriver is a great app that does everything I want and more in a winning package. I hope they enter it in the Apple Design Awards. It will win. Its that good! Highly recommend it.
