This isn’t a ‘wine club’, and there are no commitments…you purchase wine at your discretion and at price-points that match your budget. Our customer service experience is similar to concierge service at a 5-star hotel.
I am super excited to offer my selections which are limited in production and come from small family owned wineries in Italy, France, Spain, Australia, New Zealand & California/Oregon. Many of these artisanal wineries operate and farm their vineyards with sustainable reverence for the land (organic, biodynamic, etc.) You can literally taste the winemaker’s intention and discover the unique terroir (sense of place) of each wine. These wines are consistent, most are 'ready to drink' (but can age nicely too), and are up to 60% less expensive than wine(s) sold in retail brick & mortar stores.
For those not familiar with my wine background, I have extensive experience in many areas of the wine business. In addition to Rick’s Picks, I am also a partner in a winery consulting firm (Locus Wine Consulting) where we assist wineries/importers with the ongoing challenges of bringing their wines to market. I’ve also had a hand in helping make wine by assisting several well respected winemakers during four harvests.
Over the last 2 decades I have tasted literally thousands of wines from hundreds of the best importers in the USA. With my insightful knowledge of the wine world (including global regions, styles and varietals), I will recommend wines that match your taste preferences, thereby eliminating the guesswork and increasing your confidence is selecting wines. Rick’s Picks will make your wine buying experience enjoyable, educational and most importantly…simple!
Unlike most importers that bring wines into the country produced in case lots of 10,000 or more, my wine offerings are small production, hand-made wines sourced from winemakers committed to sustainable practices. Most of the wines I have selected have production lots of fewer than 1,000 cases, with some production sizes as small as only one barrel (25 cases!) This also applies to my domestic wine selections. All of my selections are exclusive to Rick’s Picks and will never be sold in any retail stores in the United States.
