Don't get it, because it is an absolute waste of your time, and it is not good grammar either
Page Four, where Reynard catches chickens, kills all of the chicks and makes their feeding ground a 'bloody slaughterhouse", seems a bit much .... Not one ounce of charm in this one folks, the story is lost.
I was appalled at this story. It basically teaches CHILDREN that a conniving, sneaky, murdering person can break the realms of hierarchy and rule oppressively. This fox cuts tails off animals and murders babies. The animals go to the king for help. Reynard proceeds to tie up the "King and Judge" of animals, and leaves him to be eaten or killed. The king begs to be saved and bribes Reynard. The fox is rewarded after "saving" the king from the very clutches of danger he put him in. In turn, the king says he will forever ignore stories of wrong doing that the people tell him concerning Reynard. He goes on to promote the fox to second in command. THE END. There is NO punishment or moral white light to brighten this cold dead story. Children need to know real life, but done in this context it only teaches that GOOD comes from EVIL. I've never seen such garbage wrapped in such a pretty package.
