Reiner Knizia’s The Confrontation is a turn-based strategy game pitting two players, Light and Shadow, against one another with asymmetric forces and hidden units.

Play as the beleaguered Light, embarking on a desperate quest to save the kingdom from the evil sorcery that has fallen over the land. Carefully guide your forces across the board, avoiding the awaiting dark side armies, and lead your Prince to the Stronghold to defeat evil at its source.

Play as the loathsome Shadow, rampaging across the land, destroying any Light character within your path. Seek out and destroy the Prince before he can succeed in his quest, or lay siege to the Capital with 3 of your units to conquer Light at its heart.

Deploy your forces, each with its own unique power, and fight your way through the land, using cards in combat to increase your strength or perform tactical feats to outwit your foe. Exploit special features throughout the landscape and powerful spells to navigate around enemy forces or ambush them as they attempt to reach their goal. Many will perish along the way, but will their sacrifices be in vain?

Like many of Knizia’s designs, The Confrontation can be played casually between beginners or fiercely between master strategists – it’s up to you and your opponents!

Very nice port of a classic board game
Zhukov007

Really enjoying this game - looking forward to playing online as people learn the game. One of Reiner Knizia's best games!

Over-priced
Grognerd

I have not played all that many games as of yet, but the graphics are dated and clunky with a really simple math game at heart. A five dollar value at the high end. Please note I really like lots of his other games as physical or app renditions. This is simply too much money for a weak looking presentation.

A little steep
Annarborhawk

A bit steep price-wise. But a great game. Deceptively complex. Tons of replay value.

Quick, fun, light strategy game

I dig it! :)

Good Game

This is a good game but the AI on the hard setting is not all that difficult to defeat. IMHO, the hard setting should be adjusted to be more difficult.

Good Implementation
Fumanchu72000

It's a good implementation of the board game Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation. The LotR theme makes more sense, but the game works with a generic theme in the absence of the LotR license.

Stay Away!

I can't play the game. Every time I try and move my characters; I can't. I've never been able to make my first move. The only thing the game lets me do is place my characters. Don't waste your money!

Amazing game
JBTGFED

This game is awesome! I own and love the board game so I am very happy I can play w my buddies on the iPad. Very well done game, strategy is great once you get the hang of it. Can't wait for variant and hopefully mixed versions!

Innovative Strategy game
Towsonite

Nice game, bit expensive but so far works flawlessly and the strategy dimension is quite interesting. Piece movement and bonus cards (mostly +attack but also magic, shield block, etc.). I hope the developer expands the depth of game play and boards as I'm intrigued and keeping up play.

Great start

Very good game, i have the board game also, but could use more to easily make it 5 stars. One annoying thing is the board zooming in and out, i wish there was an option to leave it where you set it last turn or to always have the full board show. A few, or any, scenarios would lengthen the game play and add variety, the instructions, unless i'm missing something, do not tell you the effects of special cards. Over all the game play is great, graphics as far as art work is great, and having levels of computer ai for both sides is very good.
