I'm having a hard time putting this game down. I've only had it a day and I'm seeing the Tesla electricity when I close my eyes! That's good, because rarely does a game hook me instantly and so completely. Nice graphics, lots of bonus levels, fun things around every corner. Well worth the price.

I tried playing this without reading the instructions - big mistake! Once I read them and understood all of the cool complexities and bonuses of this game I can't put it down! I really dig the steampunk-like feel, too.

Very fun game with a high luck factor yet rewards planning ahead and strategy. It is not unusual for games to last longer than 30 minutes, which was a bit surprising - I thought this would be a "pick up and play" kind of game. I admit I bought it based on Dr. Knizia's reputation alone, and do not regret the purchase at all.

This is an incredible game. Since buying it last week it is all I play. I just posted the highest score on the global board over 180,000, going about 500 turns. I played it slowly thinking hard before each move, taking 3 hours to play. With a little luck on a pyramid bonus board I would still be playing. There are so many strategies, and they change as the game progresses. Keep up the great work. I cannot wait to see what you come up with next!

Lines of Gold continues in Dr. Knizia's exploration of the iOS form for puzzles that aren't really games but will appeal to eurogame fans. One of the essential mechanics of euro boardgames, set collection, is key here and fans of Knizia's work will feel like Lines of Gold is familiar ground, indeed. Players are handed circular tokens to drop into a massive machine ih hopes of lining them up in sets that match on color, shape and number of objects depicted. The tokens are built on a grid that allows for diagonal and orthogonal sets and if the player fails to build sets appropriately, he/she will fail to power the machine and lose. Exact matches will give the player access to a simple 'pick the right ones' bonus round but if all focus is on exact machines, players will miss opportunities to make one category matches that are easier and are really necessary to keep the game going. There is some facility for placing a token aside that you can later get back but mostly, it's about the tactical choices presented to you. Ultimately, the game is a pleasant diversion but it grows stale after a while since the game simply advances by adding more options to the basic categories. The game bears resemblance to many games Knizia already created for the format, including Monumental and Topas. It is fun but it may fall off your play list if you are not motivated by the voluminous list of achievements, the challenge of simply getting a higher score or Knizia's acknowledgements on his Twitter account (@ReinerKnizia).
Fun game, but maybe buggy?

Maybe I don't understand the rules all that well (although I did play the tutorial twice), but the machine seems to "lose pressure" a lot of times, even though I've scored. This seems to happen most when the board advances. I've also noticed that sometimes my tile pile will go down by two at a time instead of one at a time. Also, when I've set a tile aside it counts down one out of the stock, but it also counts down one when I play the tile, essentially counting the tile twice. Still, it's a really fun game to play.
