Security is important but first you need to open the websites, this browser try to connect tor server and then just stays like that.

Not as good as free onion browser

----------------------d

I tried using the free onion browser before getting this one. One of the key things I wanted to be able to do was download files to my phone. However, in all other respects the general performance/usability for web browsing is not as good as the free onion browser. I've found that I tend to use that one instead whenever I don't need to download something. Even when I do use red onion, it is often so hard to actually download whatever I wanted to download that I typically just give up. My suggestion is just use the free onion browser.

Stay away

Zap B.

I am not usually suckered by a scammy app, but credit to red onion for getting $2 out of me. This app has not been updated in a year and does not work. It crashes instantly upon launch. Do not download.

Don’t Use It!

AphrodisiacDuo

This app has not been updated. Updates are important in the tor community. And as current time its been one year since the last one. Security is important, don’t look over your shoulder. This developer has hardly released updates since initial release. Nevertheless, updating should be a few times a year, not one.

Needs security fixes, DON'T RELY ON THIS FOR STRONG ANONYMITY

poobop boy

Keep in mind this is a third party (not endorsed by the Tor Project) application. One of the first things I noticed was that it uses BING of all things as the default search engine, not DuckDuckGo, Searx, or StartPage but BING. Bing and Google are absolute no-no's for anonymity. In order to use this even remotely securely you have to change the default search engine, use user agent spoofing (keep in mind websites can see the size of your screen and use this to identify you), and disable all javascript, also have all other apps closed and unconnected to the internet (which is impossible on an iphone). Furthermore your phone likely spies on you and keeps logs of your activity. How do download an app onto your phone? Your real ID and credit card. Already Apple (which by the way the NSA has direct access to its central servers, see PRISM) knows YOU use this app. Also max security features are still "experimental". It would be great to see the Tor project actually endorse this app, but it needs to be free. DO NOT RELY ON THIS FOR STRONG ANONYMITY. Most of these things are not the fault of the developers. But seriously, don't use Bing and spoof user agent. Also the options for MAC address spoofing and changing the size of the screen to match default Tor settings would be great. Even better would be the option to shut down all background applications and notifications so that all traffic on the device was connected exclusively to this app. All in all this is probably the best Tor app for iOS. It is far better than just using Safari for protecting your human rights. Also get Signal or Telegram and use that instead of SMS or 'Messages' if you really want to invoke your right to privacy (and it is a human right according to the UN). Also, on the subject of abuse: don't use Tor for immoral or immoral and illegal things. And also do not clog the network with massive file downloads unless you are getting content restricted in your country. We need more normal people to use Tor in their day to day lives. Too many people have been conditioned to (albeit unknowingly) quote Joseph Gorbells in saying, "If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear". No, the fourth amendment was written to protect not the guilty but the innocent. Mass surveillance is a violation of your constitutional and human rights. Your ISP should not legally be allowed to sell your internet history to advertisers. Use Tor everyday, resist mass surveillance. Report immoral activity and abuses if Tor to the authorities if and when you see them. Get your friends and family members to use Tor. Donate to the Tor project! Be responsible and if you use iOS a lot, give this app a whirl!

Love the app , no one can’t see what I have saved

Can’t use duck duck go

Wizard 101 for mobile please

All it does is say forbidden. If you won’t let me choose my browser then you lose my business

Abandoneware

Hot-Flaps

Edit: Yep this is abandoned. The developer has released a regularly updated Red Onion 2 with no word of this fact here. I wouldn’t trust someone happy to trade your privacy and online safety for another $2. Old review: Yeah I wouldn’t trust a TOR app that hasn’t been updated for over a year. The official pc version gets updated nonstop and this app must be light years behind in security and patches. There are plenty of other maintained tor apps on iOS and they also don’t ask for a 5 star review to unlock features.
