Great app, just gets better

Passepartout

RAW Power is a highly capable, lightweight app that leverages macOS’s image pipeline and file management while giving you the power of Aperture or Lightroom. It’s not a toy preset filter collection but a real image processing tool from the original lead developer of Aperture.

Very responsive developer, great app

BenjPhoto

Update: I had a problem with uploading to Amazon Photos and the developer went out of his way to test with amazon’s app to confirm the issue. The problem was in how amazon handles files with embedded jpgs, pulling the jpg and not backing up the raw. He has also added a number of features I had asked for, including some that the biggest player in raw photo editing had removed from their mobile app. I’ve been using an app from the biggest name in Photo editing and manipulation. It used to be better than it is now, but they’ve gutted it and made culling harder to do. Plus there was no way to batch edit. Enter RAW Power: It doesn’t make the culling process any quicker, but batch edits work (if slowly) and it brings some nice features to the table as well. First, it actually edits the raw photos in iOS Photos app. No more needing to export to use your edited images. Not only that, but the edits are non-destructive! I’m guessing the edits are metadata that is embedded in the raw photo, but they can easily be changed again after committing. Bonus: You’ll have one image instead of two (or more) to deal with. RAW Power also lets you manage your images, moving them between folders and albums. The changes are reflected in the photos app as well. I don’t see how to create folders within the app, so I’m doing that in Photos before moving back to RAW Power. Something else that sets it apart is the ability to apply edits to a batch of photos. This process is rather slow, but it beats pasting edits one by one. Get a bunch of files ready, set it to work, and go do something else for awhile. It’s slow, but it’s not tedious since you’re not sitting there doing the work repetitively. It’s far from perfect, but it’s miles ahead of other apps (including apps from the big guns in the industry). I’d love to see a better selection tool for batch work, and moving photos, something where the first tap toggles your beginning image and a second touch defines the other end of the sequence. As it is now you have to tap each photo individually. Even Photos’ tap and drag is better in this regard. Another option would be a filtered search and a “select all” for search results, but that wouldn’t work in every situation. I’d love it if the developers could let us add or edit metadata, including tags, especially if it was searchable, but I suppose that could be accomplished with albums (though it would look terrible) since “moving” a photo to a new album doesn’t remove it from any other albums it’s been added to. The transfers happen so quickly that I’m pretty sure the “new” photos are virtual copies, but I don’t know if you might end up messing up the database.

Batch presets not working, can’t use

ibrunner

I want to like this app, but I bought it specifically to do batches on presets and it doesn’t work. The presets I apply via batch don’t “stick”. No update on the image or thumbnail, and the changes aren’t visible after the image is exported. The support site won’t send me a confirmation email to get help, so I consider it a total loss until something changes.

No Support for Sony

revsjh

This software works ok with my Nikon NEF (raw) files, but there is no support for Sony ARW (raw) files. I have the Sony Zv1 which is basically an Rx100viii, but features more for vlogging. I am a hybrid shooter and need support for Sony ARW as that camera is with me all the time. You can see the image when importing, but try to edit and it will say unsupported. Sad I paid $10 for an app that does not support my main camera, only my backup camera. This app came highly recommended.

Not Very Useful...

CTQ44

And here’s why. Can not edit Nikon Z50 RAW files. Can import them but there is no thumbnail view and then the app crashes and will crash every time I try to open it again. I had to delete the app and reinstall. Could be an iOS bug as this version of iOS, 13.6, does not support Z50 RAW files.

Raw files not supported

L'Bug

I have used this app for years and have been using it to edit photos from my Canon eos M6 II. Now I get the message that my raw files are not being supported. Why. I am extremely disappointed.

Too new

Piks1

Can’t access curves, white balance. No info on using app

The best raw processor for iOS

prk60091

I have tried them all from Lightroom to Darkroom and this is the best. More control-easy to operate and I own it (no monthly payments). Try it for the basic functions for free—then spend the money to get the advanced ones.

Great start for a 1.0 product!

The timing of this app is great for me, trying to move into an iOS only workflow. This app shows a lot of promise so far. I happily paid to unlock additional features to support the dev(s). I’d love to see this app flourish as it is very intuitive to use and seamlessly integrates with Photos.

Good Control

Plotagraph

I’m liking the subtle fine tuning adjustments. Great job!!
