I have so much more flexibility to schedule different days zones. No longer have to go to the controller to turn off and on which is great for testing after replacing sprinkler head. My only complaint is I can’t use it on 2 devices. I set it up on my tablet but when I try to use it on my phone I get a wrong password error. If I go thru the process to set up on my phone the same thing happens when I use my tablet.
This app and attempting to keep wifi working with the rainbird controller will consume hours of your time. This wifi controller technology is 5 years old and needs to be retired. There are much better controllers on the market.
Rainbird specifically markets the ESP-ME3 to work with its flow sensors. After my irrigation contractor replaced my Rainbird flow sensor 4x’s - yes, four times - the flow sensor measurements are still completely wrong. Even Rainbird’s local rep couldn’t get them to work. There remain very serious software flaws with either this software, or the program software in the controller. Extremely disappointing, time consuming and wasteful.
Seems to be working on my Android, iOS device with out any issue. The UI could use a bit of work, but it is very much usable.
Found the app difficult to navigate. There are hidden features that should be available in the app instead of having to do it on the controller. Simple things to find takes several clicks to get to. If the system is running I should be able to see how much time is left easily.
When it works it not a bad app. But I often get login issues and I can’t change it unless I’m right there at the unit - which is good for security issues but awful if it stops you from logging in and your app remote. UPDATE: I think I’ve figured out my problem - Rainbird doesn’t play well with Home Assistant. Once I disabled Rainbird in Home Assistant my iPhone App worked again. :-( TIP: The App setup will allow you to set up password with special symbols but won’t allow you to login with those symbols - figured that out the first time this wouldn’t let me in to “Settings” part of App.
The rain bird app makes it very easy and convenient to use the irrigation system.
There is no way to tell through the app if it’s rained or not if you have a rain sensor
