Pythonista is great for coding on iOS. Its ideal compared to other general programming editors as it has autocompletion and nice tracebacks. Why 3 stars? It hasn't been updated in a year and is capped at v3.6 -- Python 3.10 just dropped and 3.9 is ubiquitous. Was also crashing on IOS 15, but deleting/reinstalling worked after force close and safe mode failed.

I love it, but I hate it. (, ‘, [, etc. don’t always auto close, installing other packages requires a convoluted work around, “upload as gist” has NEVER worked, and no black auto formatting.

The top bar has all the shortcuts you need like parenshisis quotes colons etc… its easy to make a script it just says “create script” then it auto puts the py extension for you then run is a play button it opens a new window to run it and it has tabs for everything. No overclutter just the features you need. Works perfect on my iphone SE (step up from iphone 7)

The app is great and everything I try seems to work on this app. Which is awesome you can learn or just code in the go. I did not like that it seems like Google Drive isn’t supported. It seems like you can only natively use iCloud and phone storage. I may be wrong but I can’t seem to save to Google drive via the app.

Coding has been in my toolbox since punchcards when RPG was an IBM & VAX program not a role playing game! I have loved and continue to love Python, constantly thinking Python when out and about, without a pad or a notebook but always with an iPhone. Pythonista affords great functionality in the palm of the hand, snippet samples scraped and tested, while waiting at the DMV or where ever… make a script, runn it and use the console to see the output, in a minute, from idea to results on the mobile phone… lovin it!

Given that regex is a tricky library to get your head around, I think it’d be a great addition for manipulating strings. Please add support for regex. I’m an engineer so it would be really nice to be able to include thermal properties into my code without having to look it up. CoolProp would be really nice to have. Overall a great app. Being able to have my code at my fingertips is extremely useful out and about. Thank you very much.

Dont waste money on this. I wish I had not. They are still using 3.6 version in Dec 2021. Seems like no updates. Using Pyto instead.

The app is great I can’t deny it, I have been using it for about 4 years, the problem is that the developer have disappeared from the earth so you will buy an app that will have no support anymore, it could break in newer devices in the future, everything depends on how the upcoming IOS releases affect it. Also, I’m not sure about the new privacy policy that apple has, but the developer has not yet updated which data he keeps (which is none probably) but maybe apple could get mad about this in the future. The final point is that the Python interpreter is OLD, so all the latest asyncio features that I prototype sometimes for my job are not available here.
