Fantastic game!
RetroBlast

This is a fun retro arcade platform game with clever ascii animated graphics and catchy music. The gameplay is basically timing your one-touch at the right moment, and the control of the character is precise and accurate. I love the ascii look, and the developer made great work to animate the environment and obstacles, so you understand the layout. I was excited to get to each level just to see how clever the ascii characters were used. Best $2 I ever spent on the App Store!

Great game

I wasn't impressed by game's AppStore page but nevertheless decided to try it. And turns out it's a great and unique game. Levels are well-balanced and interesting. Can't stop playing!

Stylish and fun

I'm really enjoying this game so far, and I'm not usually a fan of one-touch autorunners. The level design is clever, and new gameplay elements are sprinkled in often enough to keep things interesting so far (I'm at level 22). What really shines for me is the music and art style. The soundtrack is great and complements the feel of the game, and the ascii art looks really good in motion. The gameplay is more puzzle than adventure, but there's a satisfaction in figuring out the pattern the almost feels reminiscent of VVVVVV, in that even though most levels take multiple attempts, it rarely feels frustrating. After figuring out the trick to getting all 3 chests and completing a level, I am always curious to see what the next level will offer in terms of art and possible new gameplay elements. I picked up several new games yesterday, but this is the one that I keep wanting to come back to.

Fun but difficulty gets brutal
frke

I love the style, the constantly moving mechanic, the single-screen levels, working out how to complete those levels, but the retro difficulty may kill this game for me. I'm stuck on the first boss level, 18. I've tried at least 50 times. I think I'm done. Please offer a less brutal difficulty switch for those of us who don't appreciate the 80's madness. I lived through it once, I don't need to be reminded how impossible some of those games were.

One of the best iPad games in a long time.

I rarely leave reviews any more, but this is a gem, especially at $2. It's challenging and thoughtful, and it's got a great visual theme going. The ASCII looks awesome in its animated form. The game's soundtrack is top-notch, with enough variety not to be repetitive, but enough hook that you're excited to hear each track repeat when it does. The difficulty is NOT as brutal as some folks are making it out to be. In fact, the puzzles are mostly simple, and the timing required is easy to understand. It just may take 10-20 tries to pass some boards. I'm on level 39 right now, and I've not been stuck on any single board for more than 10 minutes. Great game. Thanks to Touch Arcade for featuring it. It would have totally passed me by otherwise.

I love the way this game looks...every level is just fun to look at! Difficult but not to the point where you wanna throw your phone across the room.

Amazing

Really enjoying this one. The ascii goodness and intense colors. Old school single control gameplay. The soundtrack is what makes it great though. There's no way you won't like this game.

Clean, pleasing sound. And funny gameplay

This game music is awesome. And it can be well enjoyed just by finger tapping. Sound effects are great as well. Some of levels are pretty challenging but possible if you change walking speed. You might want to include that in some tutorial though, since it's pretty frustrating not to know that you could change walking speed.
