Looks good so far. Please make it connect with GoPro.

Data is awesome, need some improvement to perfection

Data is very detail. Need to find a way to export video. The storage of the phone is limited. I could only record one session of my track day. Maybe a software on PC or Mac platform? Read the data from phone and overlaid with the video taken by gopro?

The newest version does not connect to the car. The StatusControlAppUnit shows "not connected". This needs to be fixed.

Cool app

Looks like a well put together app. I can't wait to take it on the track. One question: Why doesn't the app have Thunderhill or Sonoma raceway? I will update my review once I use it. I need to get those engine break-in miles done!

Great Potential but ...

App is buggy, loses sessions. Difficult to download videos with data overlays. Documentation is very limited. Porsche dealer does not have a clue how to use it and has not responded to repeated requests for assistance. Still, App has great potential and hopefully Porsche will get it together.

Very disappointing...

I spec'd the "Sport Chrono" option on my GT3 just to get access to the app. Nobody had received cars with the option yet, so I went out on a limb and assumed Porsche would do it right (like they do their GT cars). Unfortunately it's been a disappointment from the start. In the early versions of the app, it would take multiple tries of turning off and on the car and quitting / opening the app to finally get the car to connect to the app. And then, half the time the virtual steering / gas/ brake overlay would be about a second out of sync with the video (making it no longer useful). Then when I updated to iOS 9, the app stopped connecting all together. It took a while for Porsche to update the app with a fix. With the latest version 1.50, the connection now seems repeatable, but the app will randomly delete old lap records. Over the course of one day (5 sessions of about 10-12 laps per session) at Laguna Seca, the app would capture all the laps from the first session correctly, then in the second session half of the laps didn't record. Later in the day I went back to look at some good laps from the first session, and most of the session laps were gone! Unreliable data storage is something that isn't tolerable. I can't trust the app to save my lap records even session after session, let alone day after day over a season. So I am unfortunately giving up completely on the app and going back to my previous lap timer app on my phone. It has proven to be far more reliable, and has never accidentally deleted my data. Oh, and the Porsche app won't even let you export your video with overlays! Completely ridiculous. Porsche, if you're reading this, I think you really had the opportunity to make an amazing experience for your GT car customers with this combination of custom hardware and software with the Sport Chrono and Track Precision option they could have been better than even the professional lap timer / analysis packages. PLEASE re-invest in this and fix all of these issues (and add video export in!) so that this can become a sought-after option again, rather than one to be avoided.

Unreliable
dingoboy72

Porsche’s Sport Chrono package costs almost $2000. Its main feature is that it can send data from the car (e.g., speed, RPM, brake pressure) to the Track Precision app for use in recording lap times, video, and related information. It should be incredibly useful. Instead, it’s useless. The app will randomly delete sessions after they’ve been recorded. Your best lap ever might just get randomly deleted. Given the cost of Sport Chrono, this is extremely disappointing.

Buggy.. Where's the update??

Piece of C___
GT4 Owner

The instructions are terrible. The dealer can't help me because they have no training nor other means. I feel that I was ripped off in spending a $1000+ for this piece of crap. This is not what I expect from Porsche. This is my 9th Porsche, very disappointing, I would like my money back for this debacle.

Version 1.6.1 with problems.
Filial702
