PocketGuide turns your mobile device into a personal tour guide: The GPS figures out where you are, and a voice recording, made by a local guide, describes the sights around you. You don’t need to read text from your phone, just listen and enjoy a city’s attractions while your virtual tour guide explains it all and shares personal insights.
PocketGuide works offline, so you save on roaming charges, and it includes an offline map and loads of critical reviews that help you decide where to eat, drink and shop.
We also have fascinating themed tours, for those who want to go off the beaten path. Find the top tapas in Barcelona, get chic in NYC’s East Village or follow the trail of a 19th century serial killer in London.
Whether you're interested in the main sights or "the road less traveled", PocketGuide is ready to take you there.
Please note that continuous use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
And it was. But it won’t work until I pay $9.99. Thank you. But no thank you.
This app is great! The only issue is that you cannot reverse a route or to customize it.
The tours are good (Budapest), but the app crashes frequently. Once it forced me to reload all tours. Annoying.
Tried the New York Village Music Tour. What a waste of time! It named 7 places, didn't provide any interesting facts, instead for each place it simply listed a ton of musician names. GPS continuously thought I was walking on top of buildings and parking lots. ( whereas apple native maps perfectly showed my location ). Due to GPS lag the app didn't give proper directions. And between the very little tour info it gave there were long moments of silence. If the short NY tour is of such quality, then the city guides are probably as bad. Erased the app today.
Nice app, lots of information. Easy to navigate and to understand the narrator.
