Place Map HD is geography game and the main goal of this game is to locate the approximately Latitude/longitude/Zoom of the place shown on the picture to the world map. The closer and faster you point the position on the world map, the greater points you will earn.
Use finger swipe to move around the map. Double-tap or pinch to zoom in and out on a map. If you need help to solve it you can try the hints. Using hints will decrease your score.

Let's do some geography with a lot of fun ! This app is entertaining and very useful to learn about a lot of places around the world.

The game iteself is great if you are the explorative type. Makes good use of the iPad screen real estate using Google Maps for clear detailed pictures. Game can be very challenging though if you have no idea what you are looking at. The hints on the help will show you the country and city, however that still leaves a ton of area to search. The only knock on the game and the reason for the 4 star rating is the Open Feint Achievements. There are trophies for finding the location withing 5,10, or 15 seconds; however the game takes longer than that to even load the maps on a 20Mb wifi connection. Good idea to include trophies, bad idea making them impossible to get.

I have to say I am kind of surprised that the average rating is only 2 stars, when all of the written reviews give it 5 stars. My guess is that all the people who are rating it so low are people who would never like this type of "thinking" game anyway. This is a well-done, fascinating game for anyone who is interested in geography and learning to identify world landmarks. It's a real shame that people have unfairly given it such a low rating, but haven't taken the time to explain why they did...

The satellite view is very responsive and loads quickly. The level of detail is very good. I had a problem with the game play, however. I was able to identify two locations exactly, but I got no score, and there was no acknowledgement that the answer was correct. Essentially, nothing happened. There was no place to say done, and no link to further info about the location. Either I'm missing a step or two, or there are still some glitches with the app. I'd like to see those issues resolved because the idea of the game is a very good one.

Very clever game idea using the excellent mapping tools already available. Some of the locations presented are really difficult to identify based on worldwide possibilities. Would love to see some refinement to the location selection. Need to be able to select portions of the world for the game locations such as USA only or North America only or UK only or Europe only. Also it would be great if there were categories of locations such as: natural landmarks, man-made landmarks, famous city structures, famous roadways.
