Best pinball app I’ve seen

PeoriaFalcon

I’ve only had the app for a couple days, but so far I’m impressed. I’m running it on an IPhone 6s. Pretty smooth. Every so often a flipper doesn’t go, or it freezes a sec, but my real life EM does the same...lol. I love pinball and while this isn’t the same, it is a great way to scratch that itch. Great job guys!

Paid $70+, so why am I seeing ads?

Crabcakes

Update: I hadn’t played in a while but I got a new phone and I’m not sure why I’m seeing ads all the time now, even when playing tables I paid for, but it’s obnoxious and needs to stop. I spent obscene amounts on single tables ($4.99 or more a pop!) and ads should only be shown if you’re playing free tables if they must be shown at all. I’m docking this app three stars until this is resolved. It was formerly five stars but I’ve already had multiple ads blast out and nearly wake my fiancé in the past 20 minutes at 2:15am. Not cool, guys. Old review - Indispensable: If you love pinball, you should already own this. All the tables you remember playing, more on the way and fun gameplay make this app completely indispensable. In future updates, I would truly love to see more tables from the 70s and prior, for instance Spirit of '76, Slick Chick and Humpty Dumpty by Gottlieb. In the meantime, there are plenty of tables to feed your pinball addiction. Of course, I'd prefer it if some of them were cheaper because it's really hard for me to want to drop $5 on one table (select tables, not all of them cost that much), but I rationalize and think to myself that I could easily spend as much playing on one of them at an arcade. Eh... y'know? All in all, I think you shouldn't hesitate in grabbing this app. It's provided me with countless hours of fun and the developers are clearly dedicated to making the experience the best they possibly can. Great job!

Pathetic port of console version

Supercollider66

The game interprets every flipper tap as a ‘nudge/tilt’. Without flippers, you are left watching lame pachinko without the prizes. Unplayable. Uninstalled.

So much fun

This is by far the most money I’ve ever spent on an app. Buying by the season, and I’m not even mad. I’ve been having a blast playing all the tables. A new one every day. There is the occasional glitch or crash but they are few and far between. I spend a lot of downtime in hotels and airports and this game is a life saver. Keep the tables coming! TMNT pls ;-)

Great game but purchases are weird

I love this game, the graphics are phenomenal and its pretty addictive. Downside: having to pay is kind of... disagreeable. The only available options in order to purchase tables are in packs. Usually I'd like to buy a certain table, but it can only be bought with a different table "pack". Frankly, 100% of the time I have zero interest in the other table. There should be a way to simply just buy one table at a time, for those of us who don't want the second table or don't have enough money to blow off $30 on an entire season of tables. If there were "packs" of tables at least let the people choose which ones so they can actually enjoy both tables they are spending actual money on. Other than that, the game is incredible. I'm willing to spend money on tables, I understand it's how the developers make a living other than ads, but please make it so that I (and many others) can be %100 satisfied with which tables we purchase.

The best non-meatspace pinball ever created

Seattle Rex

First of all, the ads in the trial section are awful. Just awful. It's painful watching companies crapping all over a quality product with obnoxious, offputting ads. I think it's losing you more money than it's making, but what do I know. The tables themselves, the ones you pay for at least, are so awesome they belie description. They play just like the meatspace machines. These are simulations, not "games" per say. Well, I guess simulations of games is more accurate. Anyway, it's incredible. You do need to PAY for the tables, though, and I've purchased a lot of them. I don't see ads when I play tables that I've purchased. I can't audition tables without incredibly intrusive, non-closeable, quite lengthy ads, though ... so I stopped auditioning tables altogether. As one that's more than willing to purchase even moderately-enjoyable tables, it's certainly cost them revenue FROM ME. I can't really speak for others, though. The 3.3 rating the app currently has is a referendum on bean-counter decisions, not table quality. Table quality would be a 6 out of 5. I think everyone would agree on that. Bottom-line: Stay away from the "FREE" tables. There's nothing FREE in life. Nothing. Well, besides my tender loving, baby, and even that'll cost you in soreness the next day. Just ask your mother. If you're willing to drop $25 - $100 on a nice table collection , though, you'll be well-rewarded for your money.

Fantastic simulation, but so-so experience

tiltowaitt

First, I want to commend FarSight for putting together a magnificent simulation and collection of pinball tables. I truly love this game on my PS4/PC, but iOS is a bit of a mixed bag. The biggest *annoyance* is the ads that play in free play. I assume that many are like me and would like to play-test tables before buying them. The problem is that it’s a pretty poor experience—not only does it kick you out of the game if you beat a high score (reasonable, in my mind), but it also plays an unskippable 30+-second ad when it does so. TWICE. Once for scoring yourself out, and once for “finishing” the game. I get that developers gotta eat, but the PS4/Steam versions of the game don’t have these obnoxious ads, so it’s annoying to see them here. And, frankly, the ads make me not want to try free mode, which means I’m less likely to try out and buy new tables! The biggest *problem* is the framerate. While the game seems to run fine on my iPhone 6s+, the framerate is choppy on my original 12.9” iPad Pro. I would say that it’s ~30 FPS average, with huge dips on some tables (Space Shuttle, in particular, is nigh unplayable, with the ball practically teleporting). I could easily be wrong, but I feel like the original iPad Pro should be powerful enough to run this game at full speed. Some other issues exist. Nudging is ... not great. I actually don’t know how to nudge left/right (can do forward/back). I think an ideal option for this would be to use the device’s accelerometer to detect nudges, which would give it an edge over the PC/console version. For whatever reason, the app doesn’t stay in memory on my iPad Pro, despite it having much more memory than my phone, where it does stay in memory. Finally, I would like a view mode that’s straight on so the table fills the entire screen. All in all, I love the concept and the execution on other platforms, but I’m hoping the issues outlined above are taken care of soon.

Owned Table Disappeared

TheMortis

My bought Black Knight 2000 years ago on my iPad Mini because it’s my favorite. I only owned that and Arabian Knights. I load the app on my new iPad and Black Knight is not showing as a table I own. Only Arabian Knight is showing up. I go to my iPad mini to refresh thinking maybe that would help, it didn’t. I had purchased the Pro version too so I don’t want to pay that much again just to play on my new device.

I love it, but there are a few bugs.

Big Player 23

There is a bug such that whenever you finish a game and get your final score, you have to press the check button about a dozen times before it will let you continue. Also, it would be nice if you could skip the score match at the end of a game. Since it really doesn’t do anything, it just slows down playing another game. Other than that, it is great!

A Gem, Must Have! ....but

hmn.err~

This is a great app. Really portrays tables accurately and all of them are fun to play. I would give this app 5 stars if it wasn’t for the fact that the app is giving me trouble downloading a season pack that I purchased. The pack was $29.99 (Season 1; I needed that Medieval Madness table), and I am unable to download quite a few of the tables. Installation fails every time. Other than that the game is great; I highly recommend it but I’d be careful about purchasing one of their packs. I hope this issue can be resolved soon. Edit: so only 4 of the tables work on my season 1 purchase. That was $30..... Can someone please fix this, I’m trying really hard to like this game after this set back.
