Junk - waste of time

lapatti

Read reviews after I bought the camera. It has incomplete instructions and no troubleshooting info at all. Gets stuck at "connecting". Tried multiple times to no avail. Returned item to store!???

Junk

Don't even take it out of the box. Return it. Save yourself the frustration.

Don't Waste Your Money

Read some bad reviews and thought this camera couldn't be that bad. I was wrong.

Definitely has Pluses

But taking 15 seconds to load on the app is not acceptable. I get a motion warning then wait so many LONG, LONG seconds before I get to see what triggered the warning.

Cam works great

DC Sports

We have 3 of these cams. They ran perfectly of our 2.4ghz Timewarner service. These will not work if you are on your 5.0ghz. great cams and very helpful customer service over there.

Don’t Bother

Unfortunately if you are reading this then it most likely means you have already purchased this thing. If it’s unopened, stop here and save your time, and just return it. Luckily I got this as a gift so I’m not out of pocket on this. But when I first got it, I couldn’t get past the create an account screen, the app would just hang and nothing would happen. So in the closet it went. Now I’m going on vacation for a couple weeks and decided to dust it off and try it again. I got the account created. Which forced me to turn on push notifications (like all classy apps tend to do /s). I also got the camera connected to my wifi (know this because the firmware update seems to be talking to the camera), but It didn’t want to connect to the 5g network, so I had to connect it to the 2.4g network. I couldn’t find specs in the bulimic instruction booklet to know if it will support a 5g network, but the app didn’t hang when I connected it to the 2.4g network. And... no image comes up. Telling me that the camera is not connected. So I am trying to update the firmware, the camera clicks and beeps, while my phone has a spinning wheel telling me it is “Updating" (no other info on the progress). After about 5 minutes of this, the app suddenly crashed out and went to my home screen. Still no image coming up, so I started the update again. It’s been over 15 minutes now. The app say’s it is still updating, and occasionally the camera clicks, beeps and the lights flash, but nothing.

Avoid!

Absolute garbage. First camera wouldn't connect to wifi kept saying connecting and then app would crash. Exchanged for a new one and now same thing. Going back for good. Avoid!

Quirky Device

I purchased the guardcam CL-4000. I've spent the past month discovering the following quirks: 1. Turns out the CL-4000 only works on the 2.4GHz frequency on wireless routers. Nothing in the printed setup instructions tells you this (that I could find). I found this out after calling customer service. 2. I had trouble getting the two-way audio speaker function to work properly (between the camera and my mobile device). I again called customer service. I was told the two-way audio feature was only available on the CL-4001. I explained to the gentleman that the CL-4000 box clearly mentioned a 2 way audio capability. He reiterated: two way only available on CL-4001. I got ready to return my guardcam to the store. Tried 1 last approach (and this was KEY!): to use the audio function from your smart phone, you have to press AND HOLD the microphone icon a few seconds before you speak, while you speak, and a few seconds after you speak. Think of it more as an old school intercom switch- much like the security intercom speakers you find in some condos (think Seinfeld). 3. Checking in on my place from my smartphone over different WiFi networks where I live is hit-or-miss. Not reliable at all. I haven't been able to pinpoint why it works some of the time, and not other times. When I can't get it to work over WiFi, I turn off my smartphone WiFi and use cellular data. That works almost all of the time. Almost. Overall, the guardcam CL-4001 was a bit of a headache to set up and get running. The app is ok. When the app and camera do work together, things are pretty good. The audio from the camera is loud enough and the picture quality is sharp enough. Night vision is not bad. All in all, it works just often enough, and just well enough to prevent me from going through the hassel of returning it.

Expected More

I was really excited about protecting my business. Was very simple to set up the cameras and download the app. But time won’t sync. Motion detection works randomly. I can’t video record even with SD card in slot. I’ve deleted app and restarted like it says. I’ve reset the cameras. I’ve unplugged cameras. Still doesn’t work. I just You just have to watch 24/7 for cameras to be effective. I’ve emailed the company for help and no response. Waste of $170.00

Terrible.

I follow the instructions exactly, but could not get past step four of “connecting to Wi-Fi.“. The app kept crashing after saying “connecting” for about two minutes. I tried the app on the iPad and had the same result.
