Can’t access my photos after they updated the app

I used this app for 5 months, then the developer updated the app, and now I don’t have access to over 500 pictures I saved there... I don’t know what to do now. I did not save them on my iPad.... very disappointed. Those pictures were organized by chapters I was studying at school! How to get them back?! Customer service does not respond back
