The focus of the app is to demonstrate correct pronunciation and encourage practice aloud! So while Phonzy knows when users are talking (he responds to your voice), he doesn’t yet understand what is being said (so may acknowledge incorrect pronunciation!). In order to improve the app, so that Phonzy can recognize correct pronunciation, we collect audio recordings to build better speech technology that we feel will really improve the service for all users.

This is a pretty good app to work on phonics. I like how you are to repeat what is said, however some work needs to be done when you say something wrong. I think with a few improvements with the pronunciation part the app will be better.

I am so glad I watched the little video intro and downloaded this app. It is hard for an app to stand out with all the thousands in the App Store but this one is uniquely appealing. If your child progresses ( or you progress through the sounds for your child) then Phonzy and your child take pictures together as the child imitates Phonzy's expressions, and the camera automatically grabs the funny pictures for your child. The developers care about perfecting this app's usefulness to children, and do gather anonymous audio input data. I agree with their motives in this case. I hope you will give your child the joy of using this app. It is adorable and practical. A lot of love here. The narrater's voice is gentle, slow, and kind too.

This is a fun app for practicing sounds. The app utilizes the microphone as well as the camera. The player is expected to repeat the sounds s/he hears Phonzy make. As a reward for a job well-done, the player makes funny faces with Phonzy and photos are captured. The sounds progress from consonants to vowels then diphthongs and digraphs and beyond. The sounds Phonzy makes are phonetically correct—something that is hard to find in apps. Well done!

I was totally surprised at how much fun my kindergarten students are having with this app! I use this at play time and take students individually to be sure that they are repeating the sounds and words correctly. Phonzy is wonderful and so easy to understand! The students are eager to have their picture taken with him. That is hilarious! We al love this app!

This app is so lame I can't even use it because I can't even put in my email address to register because apparently they can't recognize an _ as part of my address. This seems poorly executed as well !!

The first part has the user hold a microphone button to record yourself saying the sound. I attempted several times and it kept saying ask an adult for help. I gave up and moved on to find another app.
