This app shows you the current phase of the Moon, using a simulation of the lunar surface created by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance mission during its observations of the Moon.
* Beautiful images of the Moon were made by NASA from data collected by spacecraft.
* See the current date, phase name, illumination percentage, distance to the Earth and Moon age.
* Swipe left and right to move forward or backwards in time to see what the Moon will look like in the future or past.
* Need to find the next full Moon? You can click a button to take you to the next full Moon.
* You can also access a calendar that shows you the phase of the Moon for any date in the future.
* Press play and watch the Moon rotate through its phases, all on its own.
* Pinch to zoom the Moon in and out to reveal more details on the lunar surface, and then pan around with two fingers
* See the zodiac signs so you can find the Moon quickly in the night sky
* Turn on a full lunar atlas, with dozens of labeled locations, including landing sites, craters and lunar maria.

An app. that is not only very much fun but is educational. I like it very much!! Because of mental changes in my spouse, it's great for finding the full moon phases! THIS was a great THOUGHT!! I do not know what he's thinking, then I check the phase of the moon and it is right on!!!

It is hard to look at nice photographs of the moon and not want to give a higher rating. But the photos are taxpayer funded from NASA and the only other interesting thing is the mons position. One thing that bothers me about this app is that it doesn't know the current date. It opens to show me the moon on the last date that I had selected. I have to scroll to get the current phase.

I live in Alaska & am certainly not an astronomer but the moon has been a constant companion & this app not only attunes me to the moon but to the entire sky which caused me to download "Stargazer" &, I think, be more aware of the worlds around me.

I'm glad this app exists. The design is nice, and the information provided is all you could hope for. The layout is a bit confusing, but you can figure it out pretty easily.
Simple, Yet Effective

Phases of the Moon shows you exactly that. I like it for its simplicity...no ads, no felgercarb, just phases of the moon (and some associated data). I like being able to scroll through the phases by simply swiping the moon image. Pick any date from its calendar and there's the moon on that day! The only downside is that it doesn't seem to be able to open on the current date/time. That must be selected manually. Maybe that's a "feature"...

The new moon is tomorrow, 8 February 2016, the calendar says the new moon is today (7 Feb). Don't recommend this app., find another one.
