Each ring on the screen represents a different pitch, and you can tap and swirl on each ring to create combinations of long and short notes. The angle and size of your tap will change the timbre of the notes you create!
PhaseRings includes seven expressive "sound schemes" featuring percussive sounds like marimba and singing bowls as well as pure synth sounds like phase and string synthesis.
Three "compositions" of pitches are included in the app, but you can also create your own custom composition by choosing three base notes and scales, PhaseRings will do the rest, generating a series of great setups from the harmony you choose!
Features:
- 7 sound schemes
- 4 built-in setups
- Custom generative composition
- 11 scales and modes
- Core MIDI support for iOS MIDI Accessories and MIDI enabled apps
- AudioBus Support with state saving
- Inter-App Audio Support
This obviously a gift from the music gods. The droning tones are brilliantly deep and rich. It's a wonderful start that's missing InterAppAudio and AudioBus, but that doesn't mean it deserves less than five stars to kickstart the reviews with my hat-tip to the developer. Thank you for a chin-scratching and wonderful auditory app. ??? dB
This app was great but now that it has Audiobus it is a performance ready app. So far it performs as expected and I am surprised there are not more raving reviews.
The wine-glass like expression of this synth gives it a very strange but beautiful sound. It's a shame that the end user doesn't appear to have access to any of the underlying elements of the synth, but perhaps that contributes to the simple, streamlined nature of the app. With Audiobus? For free? Thank you so much for bringing this to the App Store.
Does anyone find the volume(through the phone speaker) really low?
Nice unique alternative sound generator and MIDI controller. Amazingly it is AudioBus compatible!
This is a great app for my kids to create music on my phone, although I know that probably wasn't the intention! The sound choices are unique and appealing. I'd love to see a chromatic option in future updates.
Onboard voices are cool, but this is a very fun to use midi controller that gives you lots of elegant spontaneity and controlled chaos.
After all the money I’ve spent on music apps, this is still my favorite. It’s super fun to play with and it sounds great.
