Not everyone wants to set the new world record -- some play to relax or because they have a need to improve hand eye coord. Like it would take a huge effort to make the timer at least be able to set the numbers on the dial - instead of (for instance) giving you a 'setting' (stretching the definition of the term) so you can choose wood or bricks for a background.
