Way beyond typical game for ipad

zhivago1970

I started playing this game when it came out a few years ago for the PC. It is head and shoulders above any military strategy game for ipad that it is laughable. I highly recommend buying not only the base "intro" game, but also the whole game with detailed year by year WW2 European theater conflicts. The massive Eastern front scenarios are mind-blowing. All of the equipment used by all sides is historically (and chronologically) accurate. This game should be the top seller for ipad games, bar none!

Love the game, hate the #*%€ music!!

I love the game. I was a big fan of Panzer General and this is a worthy successor, and I think I like it even better on a touch screen so far. However, like many other reviewers, I can't stand hearing music while I play. You have promised to fix this in an update, so please expedite it. If I had paid $0.99 for it I would shrug my shoulders and move on. At $20.00 I have higher expectations. The music is the only thing preventing a five star rating.

Still no music patch?

Fix the music issue and I will raise this to 5 stars as it's an excellent game.

Turn off the music

Great game. 5 star all the way - until you realize you can't turn off the grating music.

Panzer General... But better

Just adding my voice to the chorus. Was addicted to PG on PC in the 1990s and had often thought the iPad would have been a perfect platform for a revival. This is pretty close to a perfect implementation, nicely balanced, and with thought given to how best to use the touch interface. Even at $70. (Yes I bought all the scenarios) it is a steal. Best WW2 strategy game on any platform, in my opinion. Nicely done.

So Close to Original Panzer General

If you loved Panzer General, this game is a must. I like the iPad interface even more than on my PC. I would give it 5 stars except for a couple of issues. First is the music which can't be turned off, but that has been covered elsewhere. But of more importance to me are changes to the game mechanics. First off, they removed my favorite cheat, where air units can be used to spot ground units with impunity during snowy or rainy days. This is actually a good change. More realistic. The change that bothers me however is that core units aren't returned to full strength at the end of a scenario. And there are not enough prestige points awarded to both repair and upgrade core units. This means decisive victories leads you down a dead end path where you begin scenarios with units too under strength, or too outdated to have a chance at victory. After winning the first Sealion campaign, I was forced to go back and win a marginal victory, or face the United States in 1945 with 1940 equipment. Still worth playing, but could be better.

Exactly like Panzer General!

Amazing game that plays like a dream and no bugs to speak of!

Very Good, with room for improvement

As a longtime player of the series, I think the developers did a very fine job with the iPad version. After playing the PC version on a 20-inch monitor, I find it does take time to get accustomed to the small screen of the iPad. Once you add in the space taken by the sidebar, you end up looking at a rather small piece of the map. Of course you can zoom in and out, but all in all it feels a bit cramped. Maybe the ability to hide the sidebar could improve the feel of the game. My iPad Air does get quite hot while playing the game, and the battery gets depleted rapidly, something that's not really an issue with the Shenandoa Studios' games, which of course were designed for the iPad from the start. A feature I find missing is the ability to rename your core units. I use that feature on the PC to quickly identify which units are the strongest (for having received points in attack, initiative, defense, etc.). You will not find that feature here. Having said that, a good game. If you want to play Panzer Corps while seated in your couch, or on the go, here is your solution for that.

Crashes

Sly396

I really like this game and it would be a definite 5 star but it crashes continually.

Great but missing something.

The tactical reviewer

Panzer corps is a very good game, but it is lacking a in game editor. In the PC/Steam version it was included. So please add this feature, and I will change my review... Review... Panzer corps is a top down strategy game. In the base game you control the German Wehrmacht. This takes you from the invasion of Poland to the fall of Germany. Or if you can succeed, the United States. The battle mechanics include, defense/attack system, many unit types, and a counter system of sorts. When a unit takes part in battle; that said unit will gain
