This app more than just supplements the german dictionary on the iPhone. It is like having a complete hardcover at your fingertips.

Overall, excellent. Complete functionality requires purchase for offline dictionary, etc, but there is Baby Girl oof coverage and modern usage as well as some slang words.

It works properly, some problematic areas I can mention are machine pronunciation for German words rather than human, and also not being able to help for mistyped words as smoothly as I expect from Mobisystems, in addition, it works a bit slow. Another issue which bothers me is not get deleted the previous looked up words and I have to delete it manually when I’m going to type the next word. One criticism that I can make refers to the main resource of the dictionary not developers, and it is the dictionary doesn’t contain IPA phonetic for all the German words.

The pop up window asking for purchase often appears and disturbs my study. When the network is not good, it even cannot disappear. This is too annoying!

While I generally respect the completeness and thoroughness of Oxford Dictionaries, I have to report that this app is not intuitive and is difficult to navigate. For example, one has to hunt to find verb conjugations (I only found general instructions on conjugation but not complete conjugations for specific verbs as with other dictionaries). This is not helpful for the beginner. To make the app even less desirable the user is regularly harassed with advertisements and requests to upgrade to a paid version. I can do without, thank you.

It would be nice if this very good dictionary didn’t periodically harass its users to “give it five stars.”

The search bar needs to be able to figure out im looking for an english or german word so it doesnt delete what i typed when i switch back and forth between the english to german and german to english feature. It’s very annoying. Other than that though, it is very useful as a dictionary. I look up words A LOT as i write things in german to learn and that search bar issue is killing me with it’s inability to figure out if its a german or english word and then deleting it when i switch over!
