It became possible because on January, 1, 2008, Article 6 "On implementation of Part IV of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation" № 231-ФЗ of the Federal law of Russian Federation of December, 18, 2006 came into effect, where the following is stated:
"Copyright of legal entities, accrued up to August 3, 1993, i.e. before the Law of Russian Federation № 5351-1 "On Copyright and Related Rights" of July, 9, 1993, came into effect, ceases upon expiration of seventy years from the day of legitimate promulgation of the work, and if it was not promulgated, — from the day of creation of the work. ... For the purposes of application such legal entities are considered the authors of the works."
All the movies in this collection belong to the Public Domain, i.e. to creative works, property rights in which have expired.
