While a pretty good recreation of the original ascii game, all you do is move and shoot Klingons. No Romulans, no planets or mining, no docking with Starbases and it’s a different movement scheme. But not the full game by any stretch of the imagination. I was playing it in 1980 at Junior College listening to “Funkytown” by Lipps, Inc. There’s some trivia for you which is more useful than this game.
Jan 4, 2019 downloaded the app. Warp control does not ask for speed and direction as expected. But with a little looking around you’ll find three boxes that can accept text. On an iPad the text that explains these boxes is far away on the left... but these boxes are for “warp”, “direction”, “phaser energy”. So the game is functional. Developer might want to move the boxes and words closer together... also the “help” doesn’t actually reference these boxes correctly. BUT, all that said, this is a faithful re-implemented Star Trek game from the 1970’s and as such is AWESOME!
This game brought back a lot of memories playing it on an Apple 2E with amber screen. Some things the developer could add to this game that would make it out of this world is the sounds. There are plenty of Star Trek ring tones, from the Apple store, that a user could load into the game and use if it were written in the code. Maybe make a sounds settings button to load from there. It would make it way cool.
