Ojibway app

Quishquanies

Great way to share the language to teach all people. Technology is definitely the key to achieve this. Wish there were more words and pronunciation available. Also, audio is understandable but cloudy.

Great idea!!! however,

Great Idea, however I can't get sound to play on my iPad… I unloaded and reloaded again but still didn't work. even though this component didn't work for me, i still am inspired!!! keep it up and create more!!!

Excellent Start, can't wait to see this evolve

Leahy Group

Great start for the Ojibway language. Impressive. However is very limited in its database, needs an interactive ability to present both audible and text display & playback. With those they will keep the user engaged longer and thus ensure greater proficiency and retention of the lesson. Otherwise great start!!

Sweet app

Awesome app. My wife is 100% ojibwae, and speaks the language fluently. The words I recognize sound just like the way she talks. This can be a great tool to teach our children to speak their language better. I hope there are many more updates real soon. And it would be awesome to see the text of the word and pronunciation. Awesome app. Keep it coming.

Can't wait for more to learn

Dolphin Goddess

Good start! I didn't realize that this was even out there, I'm Ojibwe and have always wanted to learn to speak and write our language. It would be helpful if you included the spelling/pronunciation along with the audio. Is there any way to make the audio a bit clearer, as some sound a bit tin canny. Otherwise good start and I look forward to more updates and more information about other Ojibwe people and their reservations.

It's fun

Good fun app. I can say I love you in Ojibway.

Does not work

Needalift

Broken links fixed in one day. This kind of service is a good omen. Entire section on language is all broken links. Nothing here to learn if you do not already know their alphabet (which is NOT included.) It is like trying to read Russian w/o knowing that alphabet. Seems to be basic language primer for a child who knows their alphabet but not designed to encourage a child to learn as the child would need to know English to use it and it is not child friendly. Actually, it isn't any more than a list of things that does not work. Needs a lot more thought and programming. The idea is good and could be used to preserve the language as is being done in Alaska with unique tribal languages. Please keep working with this as history needs it. Check with University of Alaska's program for ideas.

Ojibwe language app

AmandaJo1986

This app is easy to navigate, let's you hear the way to pronounce the words & phrases, & is a great learning tool for beginners. However the Ojibwe language differs slightly depending on the band so keep that in mind when using this app. I'd like to see more words & phrases & which tribe or band they're from...

Pretty darn cool!

My Grandmother is half Ojibwe, but her family moved from Canada to the California before she was born and she grew up in a time where they had to hide their heritage so she was unable to learn her ancestral language; but with this app she has been able to connect to a part of her self she thought she had lost long ago. I want to thank the developers if this app! Now I'm just waiting on an app like this that teaches Mohawk for my grandfather.
