The app is simply an image of the flag of the United States. Based on the premise that the 50 stars of the flag represent the 50 states, the app will only display a star for each state that allows for gay marriage.
As a state legalizes same sex marriage, another star is added to the blue star field. On the flipside of the app, you’ll find a list of the states’ names and the date marriage was legalized.
The state count is pulled from an external feed, so it is always up-to-date.
Show your support for legalized marriage in the United States by downloading and sharing Oh My Gay Stars.
Great app! However, now that DC has embraced marriage equality, it should be represented. As of now, it's been left off. Developer: Please add DC! Great app!
App developers... We NEED to update it to reflect DC... If not a star, then add it on the list of states/jurisdictions that have legalized marriage for gay/lesbian couples... Thank you...
Not real sure how to title my review. I look forward to the day when there are fewer dull stars than bright stars. If only there were a way to also do the terratories. Given that we can now get wed in DC. Do you have a app like this that is also a globe? (maybe on a future update?) Desperately needs a up date with more Stars lit up People VOTE when the time comes.
Good , but as of today New York has been officially added. Needs to be updated .
I have a suggestion. States allowing civil unions (Delaware, new jersey, rhode island, Hawaii, Illinois), domestic partnerships (California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington), or limited rights (Maryland, Wisconsin, colorado, Maine) should each be lit up in different colors so people know what states have taken baby steps toward marriage equality. It will help people realize how far the gay rights movement has come.
This app should be updated the second marriage is approved. Also, having a separate look for civil unions/partnerships would be cool.
